Hello, newbie here, making my first prop! I hope I have posted this in the correct place. I don't have any experience nor tons of money but I'm excited so I have decided on making Mei's Yeti Hunter skin gun, golden version base out of the materials listed in the title.

Many round parts will be PVC pipe, fabric will be leather, the clear dome is Transparent Worbla, with the "ice" inside being colored resin. After heat shaping/carving/sanding each piece I wish to cover it with Worbla and continue from there.
The problem is I'm just not sure which foam would be the best. I quite like the idea of carving but I know that pink insulation cannot handle heat well (aside from being very toxic), so smoothing the worbla on top of it will be precarious. I'm curious about using polyethylene, which if I'm correct is more rigid than EVA, but is said that can be hard to paint. I'm still curious if its usable as it will be covered with worbla so painting isn't needed but I'm not sure if it can handle the thermoplastic or the heat. Lastly EVA just seems hard to detail and get at the quality that I want, but will probably be what I go for... If anyone can offer their thoughts it would be much appreciated.
