Eumig Servomatic Motor Help

Does anyone know what voltage will run the motor on a Eumig? Here's a pic of what it looks like. I hooked it up to a 9V and it moved only a little bit.

did you check to see if the battery compartment of the eumig had a sticker showing a power level rating? Sometimes you'll see a sticker that says something like "replace only with battery back with xxx volts, yyy amps" or something to that effect.

Other than that, it may need a european supply if the eumig was made in germany.

ES battery packs were 4.5V I think, try 3 AAs.

I'd be a bit weary of that.

If you got very little movement from a 9V, 4.5V is going to give you half of that.

I believe that the amps are proportionately equal as well, meaning 3 AA would give half the amps of a 9V.

I found another site that said the batteries were 4.5 volts.

Any clue why the 9V wouldn't work? there is a resistor on there also.

The 8mm camera is the same one that Luke's Macros are made from.

One alkali PP3 (rectangular 9V) is about 565mAh, one alkali AA battery is about 2500mAh. So having 3 AA will provide much more juice than one PP3 an at the correct Voltage.

Try 3 AA in series. The 9V doesn't have enough oomph.

Rule of thumb: The lower the voltage, the higher the amperage.

From the eumig servomatic manual:

"Every Eumig Servomatic is supplied with a standard 4.5 volt flashlight battery... For countries where these standard flat batteries are not available, we can supply a container that will hold four 1.5 volt penlight
batteries..."

so you should be able to run it off 3 (or 4) AA's.

I remember bike lamps used to use them in the 70's. Apparently you can still get them: google "3R12 battery"

See, you learn something every day. I couldn't find an amperage rating on the batteries I had sitting in front of me, so I made an assumption - and it was wrong lol
