Phasma Stock Get! Rest of the blaster is not shown, but it fits it fine! Hooray!

Hey JJ, which version of this stock did you pick up (or are they all the same?) and how did you get it mounted.

Started printing my blaster and would like to pick up the rest of the parts (I know this one isn't screen-accurate but I like the adjustable length).

I drilled a two holes in the barrel for both lights and wired it to the end cap with the switches so I can turn it on in one place... I made the end cap removable with a screw on the bottom. My first build, definitely learned a lot (lots of trial and error in the painting)

Did you do a build thread?

I just got this kit and want to get up to speed. If I can hear your lessons learned, then I will make less errors on my build. lol I hope

Thanks

No, I don't have a tread. Most of my learning was the painting. Be very, very patient (do light coats to avoid the paint running, I used spray paint) and make sure you sand, sand, sand the gun to be smooth. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to help. I may go back and re-paint some parts like the forward grip, it scraps with you move it down (didn't sand enough) so the paint has come off.

Any textured black paint will work just as good. It doesn't necessarily have to have a rubber.

I just got done looking at your thread (pages 7-16).

I was hoping for a little more information if that is possible. I'm happy to ask the community, but I thought I would start with you.

I see you used 3 major paints, (white, black, and chrome) can you share which paints you used? Did you use a standard primer/Base/clear coat method?

Has any buyer of this kit actually done a build thread that talks about assembly steps, painting tips, specific products/tools to use, and lessons learned? I don’t have a ton of experience with prop building.

Just curious and very excited.

I don't think anyone has done a detailed build thread for this yet.

Get all parts cleaned off to remove mold release. Then sand off all seams and imperfections. Do a test fir, to make sure parts fit together properly.
I like Duplicolor primer, but it's a little expensive. Do a few light coats, to make sure the paint will go on evenly. Then do a heavier coat. Then do a gloss white coat on everything. Let it dry completely. Then tape off the white parts, and do a matte black. Pretty much any spray paint brand will work. I like auto paints, because they work great and dry fast, but they can be expensive. If you do auto paint, make sure you do a gloss clear on the white, and a matte clear on the black.

As for the chrome, a lot of people just do a bright silver spray. I used Alclad Chrome. It needs a very high gloss black base coat, and then you use an airbrush to do very light coats with the Alclad chrome. It looks beautiful, but it's expensive, and tedious.

Look at all of the pictures of the final blaster, and you should be able to figure out where each part goes. There are pre set holes for everythign to line up to. Super glue or epoxy work great with resin.
