I can't add much to the conversation, but here is my build. The main body is a 3D model from a board member. I used auto body glazing filler and sanded to smooth the print lines. I revised the bottom with ABS sheet plastic. Found a dianode tube on ebay. It had the copper shutters. The screws holding them are sheet metal screws from Ace Hardware. Rustolium paint and Testors dull coat. Wrapped the 3D cable clip with aluminum tape. Made the cap on a lathe. Knurled knobs came from a pair of embroidery hoops. Red lamps are old RS stock. Hammered aluminum paint on the inside disk.
