I’ve always been a fan of prop weapons in film, in fact that’s most of my prop collection. While watching Elysium I noticed Kruger had a pretty awesome scifi looking knife. After a bit of searching I found out it was of course custom. So I was up to challenge of recreating it.
I had the handle recreated from a ton of reference photos and had it 3D printed. The prints are a bit to light for me so I decided to mold and cast them. They have a bit more heft to them now which balances the blade more than just a 3D print. I had a friend at the blacksmith shop hook me up with some blades and I am just now putting the finishing touches on a super limited run.
These are real knives and very sharp! They are handmade 420 high carbon steel. Some of the blades have their original finish however they will be darkened to be more screen matched. The handle is custom and will be rubberized. Finishing these has been very time consuming but very worth it!
