Elwood Blue's license

While looking for pictures of driver's licenses that would help as a template for a Ray Stantz, Ghostbusters, license I found my "Blues Brothers: Private" book. It tells the story of Jake and Elwood through police reports, orphanage papers, etc. I thought y'all might enjoy seeing Elwood's driver's license.

I was hoping a 1980s New York license would be similar. My search continues.

Anybody catch the expiration date? "Blues Brothers" came out in 1980.

Oh, that Elwood. Yet another driving violation.

That was the turning point of the whole movie wasn't it? When he got pulled over for going through a yellow light the "SCMODS" screen in the police car showed his license suspended and other things - and their "mission from God" was born.

I know we have a ton of talented people here that like to do paper props and I'd love to see this replicated in a print out version.

Although it is buried in storage in Los Angeles I have a copy of this "book" i got when the movie came out and have never seen anything like it . The whole thing is just a bound copy of a file on the boys. From childhood to adult - in an amazing detail - birth records, school report cards, artwork, old photos, etc. It "feels" just like the real thing (except it doesn't really exist.) It seems like an easy thing for someone (someone talented - not me) to covert to a file format and add that finishing touches that would take it from book to prop. :D

I have two copies, one cherry, one not. The cherry one still has the Gig Poster replicated from the movie in it, I have been meaning to get around and frame it as it is beautiful. I will take a photo and post it once I get out of work.

Just finished this replica:

Came out pretty good, I think. I also did the back based on a real IL license from the same period. The distressing was fun to do. If anyone wants won of these, I'll do them for $20 (shipped anywhere in the world).

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Indy, I'm glad I could help. :D It came out nicely.
Maybe you could help me with my 1980s New York license project.

See you at the Lounge,

Wolf,

Have you tried watching eBay? I found an 1969 IL license that I used for the back of my Elwood license. Keep your eyes peeled there. I'll let you know if I turn up anything. I owe you one. ;)

Kind regards,
Indy

Could someone do a screen grab of the license shown in the film? I'd like to see if there are variations enough to warrant doing a "screen accurate" version as well. Thanks and

Kind regards,
Indy

i got one of these from Indy and it really is a cool prop....as with all his stuff the attention to detail is great...his prices are fair and he offers free shipping (from New Zealand.)

just my $.02

I don't remember the license being shown that well in the movie.
Funny you should mention variations, though. Burton Mercer's (John Candy's character) card is in the previously mentioned book and it is slighly different than the movie. I've made a copy and will post it soon.

Sincerely,
The Wolf
