Hi everybody!
I'm currently working on a Poe Dameron (Jakku) outfit. One crucial item is Poe's blaster rifle. I've already found some threads of people, who did scratch-builds out of wood or did 3D-prints. (amazing jobs guys!)
Since I'm not really skilled in sculpting or carving and don't have access to a 3D-printer, I tried a different approach. First, I was planning to convert an Airsoft HK G36C. But since airsoft-guns tend to cause security-problems on conventions or other public events, I decided to try a toy-gun conversion instead.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find an accurate G36 toygun. But after some searching I found this:

It actually looks more like an HK MP-5, but handle and stock looked similar enough in shape, so I gave it a try. The measurements of the weapon seem to be nearly life-size (at least 90%). Anyway the gun is definetly not as ridiculously undersized as the hasbro EL-16... The kit also came as modular with removable stock, plus it's got some build-in light and sound effects that appeared "spacey" enough to work with.

When looking for parts, I stumbled across the following item in a construction shop. It's a part I never read about before when looking for Star Wars gun-builds, but it looks so familiar that it actually might be a genuine part. That's a gas-nozzle for welders. (a smaller version of one of these might also be used for the Glie 44 resistance pilot sidearm - what do you think?).

I did a loose assembly just to get a first impression:

Of course, there's still a lot of modding to be done. But I think, this could actually work!
Would be happy about comments and ideas!
Stay tuned!
