Todd’s Costume DL-44 ANH blaster

I have been sitting on a Todd’s costume Han Blaster from while now. And I keep on comparing it to the Denex Blaster builds. After a while you really start to know the difference. Todd’s Han Blaster really is top notch. The only mod I did was to add a washer to the safely since it didn’t have a in dent. That made it tighter and wasn’t a worry after that. I would really recommend Todd’s DL-44 to anybody who wants a blaster that feels right without any modifications. I added some photos to compare with my Luke Bespin Blaster. The Denex mod does not compare with Todd’s blaster. Field Marshall’s steel blasters are still the best but Todd’s is a great option as well.

So can you clarify your review? I know nothing of Todd's Costumes Blaster. You say...
...I keep on comparing it to the Denex Blaster builds. After a while you really start to know the difference...

What is he using for a base for the blaster? I assume not a Denix from the way you wrote this.

Todd made a scan of a real Mauser and made his own base. The Denix Mauser base is pretty far off a real fire arm and really isn’t comfortable to hold nor does it feel natural. So Todd made his own Mauser. There is no in-dent on the safety so it is free floating nor is it a functional safety. I added a C washer to make it tighter. So it is really not a big deal. The feel and proportions are correct to a real Mauser but still is not a steel body. For the money it is a great deal. I still like my Bespin blaster build but the Denix base leaves a lot to be desired as far as handling. Some people hate he used the serial number from the Pawn Stars gun for one of the parts but I feel it is now part of Star Wars history even if only a few parts are from the film.

Yes, I can compare to real guns because well, I have real guns (and movie guns like John Wick, etc.) Lol.

I know about the Denix, I been dealing with them since the late 1990s. Tell me more about Todd’s. What material is it made from?

It is feels like a zinc alloy similar to the Denix. It is not pot metal like the Anders metal Blade Runner kit which requires a lot of work. The slide and the bolt carrier group work great but there is definitely a “zing” sound when you rack the slide. Think of a Denix except with the correct proportions.

Sounds really nice. Thank you for all the information.

He designed a whole new base and it took about 3-4 years to develop and finish it. I am extremely impressed with them and I would put squarely between thee steel build and a Denix build. Nice to be able to hold naturally unlike the Denix builds. He used the Denix base previously before he developed his new base.

Here are the two serial numbers. The barrel is the known hero prop serial number. The frame is the Pawn Stars serial number from what I can remember.

It just has a working hammer, slide, and a non functional safety. You can’t make a replica that can be converted to a working firearm. So everybody has to be careful when making these things.

By working hammer, do you mean it moves when you pull the trigger? I know I'm surprised at how under the radar this has been, especially considering that Todd's work is not exactly unknown around here.

I didn’t know that. Thank you for telling me that. I am extremely happy with Todd’s blaster and would recommend it to anybody who wants a complete finished blaster.
