EFX Mandalorian Helmet Season 2

It just doesn't seem worth it to me. This really shouldn't be $100 more than the PCR Boba. If someone does a run of replacement ears for the helmet, that's just more money that needs to be spent on it.

Sure it’s a bit over priced. I can tell you that I’m a lot less disappointed in this helmet then I was with all the others though. The PCR has sharp lines, no warping or distortions and looks closer to the screen used helmets. That was a big relief for me. When I opened mine I was preparing for that all too familiar feeling of my stomach falling to the floor when all the casting issues would be revealed. The PCR didn’t have any. Once the correct ears and alumaluster are applied I’m finally going to have a hell of a Mando helmet in my collection.

Got mine in today and while I’m severely disappointed in the weathering, the helmet itself is really, really good. Crisp lines, no crooked mohawk lines or misasligned mandibles like the LE. Besides the weathering, this just might be the difinitive Mandalorian helmet. Someone with more talent than me could surely repaint this thing and it’ll turn out great. Unsure if I’m going to keep mine but for now it has taken the place of my Black Series in my Detolf.

Edit: helmet is being returned.

Sorry but the PCR Mando looks not good.500$ for a thin plasticcast with wrong ears and a joke of a paintjob is really insolent.
If they wanna sell the helmet only for the(really good) plasticcast minus right ears they should sell it for a price of a naked plastic casting.
I really love my EFX PCR Boba...but this is not the same level of quality.
Yes with lot of work you can make a great looking helmet from this...but for all the time and money you spend in it you can buy a limited fiberglassversion(if you buy a good one with no problems in the casting) with CoA and have a better collectible.
And yes the helmet is sharp and has no dent or something...but makes this the helmet more screenaccurate? Is the PCR Boba more screenaccurate as one made from fiberglass and a siliconmold?
I think with a repaint this is the perfect troopinghelmet when you can buy one for a good price but as a collectible its not worth the money in my eyes.

Got mine today. The details are fantastic, super sharp and straight lines. As detailed above, the weathering is pretty heavy handed and ugly, but some isopropyl alcohol (I used 70%, just what I had around the house) takes it off really easily without affecting the paint beneath. Here's a pic I took with the weathering half-removed to show what a difference it really makes. Still think it could benefit from a proper paint job, but I'm not confident enough in my airbrush skills yet to attempt it.

Took the ears off. They screw on and off very easily, much less of an ordeal than attaching metal ears on a Fett helmet, haha. You can see though that the screws are inserted in two rows, rather than one line down the center like Fett ears are. I'm not entirely sure why they've done this, but you can clearly see that accounts for the inaccuracy of the ear thickness, it has to be that thick for the screws to fit. Luckily though they do come off quite easily so replacement shouldn't be an issue if you could find someone who sells matching ears. Alternatively, I don't see why you couldn't just mill down the edges of these ears and re-drill the holes in the center if you really wanted to keep the aluminum but maintain accuracy.

Are there any stress marks on the plastic? The Boba helmet had a lot of them. They're not super noticeable at first, but it's hard to unsee once I did.

Wow, their attempt at weathering on this piece is laughable. It was already amateur hour on the S1 fiberglass version but this is something else.
Good thing you can get rid off it pretty easily.

The helmet itself is beautiful. I'm sure with some alcohol wipes that weathering will come off easily.
It does, like, surprisingly so. Unfortunately though it doesn't seem like they painted the weathered areas chrome. Underneath it's dull, almost black. Looks a lot better than the weathering though and isn't very noticeable from a distance

The PCR helmets are fully painted with the silver/grey then areas are painted black and weathering is applied to the black areas. There is also some kind of dulling spray the entire helmet has been painted with. All of that will come off with isopropyl alcohol and some elbow grease leaving only the silver grey.
Even just taking the helmet back to the silver is a big improvement. I’m going to go much deeper. I’m removing all the metal bits and try my hand at 3D printing more accurate parts.
If I really want to do this properly I’m also going to have to remove the plastic clips underneath the metal ear pieces then fill in the recessed areas. So I may as well repaint with Alumaluster while I’m at it. Looks like I have a summer project I wasn’t expecting.

You were able to get the black off with IPA as well? I had just assumed that was the base color, but you're saying it's applied on top of the "chrome"?

Here's a few pics I snapped of it outside just real quickly. You can see how crisp, sharp, and straight the details are. There's a few seam lines, it appears the helmet is made in four pieces (not counting the crest and metal bits). They're hidden pretty well but I'll probably fill them if I decide to repaint it. The finish looks well enough outdoors, but it has a lot of little silver flecks that aren't present on the real prop. I've removed most of the weathering but the undelying black layer is still present where it was. I'll retake some nicer pics if it turns out that black can be removed.

Yes I got the black off with the IPA. It took a little extra rubbing. You need to get all the weathering and dulling spray off first. Then you can get the black. It was nice to see just the silver underneath.

Post a pic!
Sure!
You can see in one side I am taking off all the weathering and the black paint. I think it was airbrushed on as a guide for the weathering.

Here are some better pics showing the weathering and black being removed. I’ve only done one side of the helmet thus far. For fun I also removed the weathering on half of the rear vent. I’m planning on replacing all the metal parts.

Those black spots on the rear vent don't come off?
