As many know the star wars branch oif Master replicas Abandonded ship to create their own company eFx. Well in their newsletter then announced what they plan on releaseing in 2008. Included in the list is a Red 5 xwing. Now its an assumption on my part but I'm thinking they picked up right where MR stopped with this project and they now have it ready to go.

their list inlcudes:
Stormtrooper Bucket ANH - JUly 2008
Clone tropper Bucket AOTC Sept - 2008
Obi-Wan Lightsaber ANH- Xtreme Edition - Nov 2008 - (no idea what that is)
Ralph MacQuarrie Concept Darth Vader Helmet ANH - Dec 2008
Lucke Skywalker Red 5 Xwing ANH - TBA

Anyway if it is the MR prototype - which I strongly suspect it should be a Great model... possibly in 2009 ;)

A lot of MR replicas (and other brands) come from Icons molds and Masters....why not the X-wing ????

The OWK Xtrem will be a "reveal" lightsaber, which will open to show Crystal and all mechanism.

Id get a Salzmoe V3, and if the buyer cant build or paint, have the job done by one of the many amazing artists here, no way can a factory line paint job compete with what some throw down on this and other boards, and TBH, the MR hull didnt look all that, from what i recall.

Where can you get this "Salzmoe V3"?
Thanks.

The MR Prototype pictures I saw a while back looked pretty impressive. I have not seen a mm by mm comparison to actual reference material to see if its off by a hair here and there but I'm sure I will at some point. From the perspective of someone that "knows" what the x-wing should look like but has not "studied every fleck of paint and bump" it looked pretty darn good - not nearly as "skinny" as the ICONS version, plus if I recall it was lit etc. which was pretty darn cool.

I agree that a factory paintjob doesn't come close to what we see regularly from our members here. That's a point that is not worth even thinking about debating.

Anyway I have not seen any pics fothe eFX model yet - I'm just guessing that they have salvaged the MR prototype. It seems to make sense...

The V3 "SALZMOE" kit has no connection to the MR proto, and if the MR one is ever released under another company it will be THE X-WING to own for sure, i know that i will be in line to get one.....

I would venture to guess they just continued the research and refined it properly.

When I worked up the paint master for MR the model was still very crude and I got the gut feeling it was a long way away from what was envisioned for this model. I would expect to see something very original, high quality and not yet seen in a production Studio scale model. I was breaking down the paint scheme and finding things with reference provided that not many folks have got correct aka. the aft cockpit stripe on red 5 is gray and not red.

I believe eFX picked up the ball and will do an amzing job were MR left off. I am speaking out of observation though.

All the best

Main things that popped out on the MR Lee, the hull still looked a little skinny, and the nose didnt look quite right, maybe a little too "icons" not sure, its been a while since i saw pics of the proto, which in all honesty, is still a wonderful looking model, maybe they will tweak it some as like you said, it was a very early draft?
