eFx Collectibles Announce THE AVENGERS Limited Edition Replicas

Odd that they are only making 250 of these. You would imagine they try to make at least 1000 since Cap's Shield is like, THE prop from these movies. What a waste of a good license.

I got an email from eFX saying the edition size will be 1500? I expect they would add 5-10% more than that too for faults and returns.

Oh, you are right. I went back to their website. The 250 pieces they refer to is for the people that pay in full, first shipment. I didn't see the second part. My mistake.

Pending how some of my new jobs go, I may have the cash to fund this.
If the paint is not to my liking, I can always repaint it myself!

I am interested in getting one of these shields. However, when did the hammers ship after they came up for sale finally? If they shipped when they said they were supposed to then I'll get the shield if not, it's a coin toss to decide. Other thing is anyone else notice that based off the recent pics posted so far that the center star doesn't show a lot of definition like it should? It almost looks like its left empty waiting for a star to be placed like those who the make aluminum shields.

I don't recall me waiting too long between payment and when my Mjolnir shipped out. eFX has gotten better about shipping out on time AFTER receiving payment in full; my Maul saber also shipped out as advertised after payment. You should expect first shipments to go out as promised in Jul-Aug. Can't speak for international customers though, some of them experienced delays with the Thor helmet.

The star on the shield does have the etched details, it's just very subtle and hard to see on the pics. Again based on the Avengers shield.

I don't know, looking at the movie I have on my hard drive you can see the etched lines on the star pretty clearly from about 3-4 feet away when the light hits it at an angle. As close as pics of the shield you posted a week ago with the light hitting it at an angle too you should have been able to see some lines on the star but I don't see any details.:(

It's there, see the pic here from WC 2012: Awesome Toy Picks: WonderCon 2012 Floor Highlights - Comic Vine

The shot you're referring to from the movie could've been a different shield with more pronounced details, or maybe they used the right lighting to show off the lines better, who knows. Regardless I have no doubt in my mind that eFX has been able to replicate almost all if not all of the minute details from ONE of the screen used shields. Now whether it's the same shield from a select scene in the movie, I have no clue. For those who don't think this shield is their cup of tea that's totally understandable - even I prefer the hero shield from TFA over this. But there's absolutely no reason to believe that eFX didn't faithfully reproduce the screen used prop they were given permission to use.

Yeah I know, they did a great job on replicating Thor's hammer from the Avengers so I know they'll do a good job on the shield. Just would love to see better close up pics.

I'm more interested in the wall mount it comes with. Would love to see what design they came up with

Comes with a wall mount?? Must have missed that. Cool!

For me screen accuracy is king. So that's why the efx shield is the ultimate collector shield for me. Some of the aluminum shields are incredible but are still a more idealized prop to me.

Idealized may be a bit of an overstatement, they did use aluminum hero shields in TFA. But certainly if screen lineage matters, there's nobody else besides eFX in the game.

True. Idealized for The Avengers I guess. ;) Having accurate inside details of the shield and etched star are also important to me. I certainly haven't seen every fan build but not sure I've seen those done yet? In any event, I am not knocking the aluminum builds because as I said before, many of them are stunning. And I have all the parts for a build of my own for when I find time. So in the end I will likely have both.

Hey guys! After making my own budget Shield last summer (thanks Valor :D) I'm ready to get the real deal this year! It was a blast making my own shield, and the "Mark I" as I call it will always be special to me. But, I really want an official, "real" shield. I intend on getting it around August, as I should have the disposable funds by then. Just had a few quick questions, was hoping all you wonderful folks could give me some advice.

1.What do you think would be my best bet for a new shield? The ones made on the RPF are amazing, I'd be open to buying one on here. But the eFx product is "official" and that would obviously be a bit of a comfort...can someone explain what is different about the eFx shield? What's the difference between aluminum shields and the material they are using, and is it really noticeable? Also, which do you think looks better?

And what about the King Arts Shields on the last page? Anyone have any experience with those? Being in America, I'm not sure how viable it is to ship those from Honk Kong..

Lastly, what kind of shield is the one on the right in this pic???

Is that the same one that is available for pre-order? Looks amazing! Is it even metal? If that one is available, I'd most certainly go for that! The STRIKE shield is sweet as well, I hope to add it to the collection someday.

The shield on the right is EFX's battle damaged shield. From what I have read they will go into production if there is enough demand for the 'clean' shield.
The clean shield is the only one up for pre-order.

Hm, thanks. What do you guys think of the BD shield? Doesn't look really "battle damaged" to me. Seems like some of the shine has been knocked off, and I actually think it looks better than the "clean" shield.

When I think Battle Damaged, I think of something like this

where's the BD shield pictured at? I'm looking forward to picking up this efx one when pre-orders go live tomorrow.

So bit the bullet and did the one payment order for the EFX Captain America shield so can't wait for it now. Hope they do a good job on it like they did with Thors hammer that I have.
