eFx Collectibles Announce THE AVENGERS Limited Edition Replicas

I think the biggest difference between the EFX shield and the aluminum ones is the look - I prefer the shiny, reflective look of the shield to the duller one but that's just me. Obviously the EFX is accurate to the stunt shield you see in Avengers. It will have the recessed star, correct leather, etc. I've heard that the fiberglass is also a bit more durable than aluminum (which might be a consideration if you plan on taking your shield around places). For my display purposes, I really want an aluminum shield :)

Btw, EFX has done a great job with their displays so I'm curious to see what the stand/wall mount will look like as well....

There's a pic of the wall mount on their site right now. It's mostly hidden aside from 3 semi-clear (maybe frosted) brackets that hold the shield. Top one is the Marvel logo. 2 bottom ones are The Avengers logo.

There's a picture of it on the preorder page if you scroll across...and I'm not too crazy about it. In my mind I was picturing something entirely different...lol. I could do without the Avengers "A" on the sides...Still preordered it though...

I see what you mean - yeah not the greatest design. That's too bad - I was hoping for more of a "guitar stand" style of display but I can see the appeal of a wall mount. It's a great looking shield at a great price point.

Aside from the proper recessed star and the brackets being built into the back of the shield, the extra sturdiness is a great selling point. While I also prefer the shiny, bare metal look, the aluminum shields do catch dings and scars far too easily.
And I'm not really feeling the wall mounts either. The logos detract some of the shield's beauty.

I'm hoping that the wall mount if its gonna be acrylic plastic is as thick as Thor's hammer base otherwise it might break fro the weight of the shield hanging on the wall

That wall mount looks awful, looks like NASCAR logos galore.

The TWS version shown in my WonderCon pic looks a bit better b/c the bottom logos are more subdued - they used the stealth suit chest star and stripes instead of the Avengers logo for their mounts. Either way I don't think the bottom mounts need any logos whatsoever.

Yeah not too fond of the bottom "A"s either. I may look at replacing or removing them on mine.

eFX posted on their FB page about an hour ago that there were only 20 left of the first 200 full payment options remaining.

Another notable difference between eFX and the aluminum ones is size - eFX's shield is 24" diameter, most of the metal shields offered here are around 26". The first thing that caught my attention when I saw it in person at WonderCon was how much smaller it was than my CF shield, definitely took some of its presence away.

If they do end up offering the TWS shields I presume they'll go back to 26" because a 24" shield on Evans' back would look too small. In Avengers he never carries the shield on his back so the smaller size was never apparent.

Yeah... That wall mount design is certainly lacking. It's a shame they had to plaster the logos all over it too. Back to the drawing board for me

The Cap Shield full payment option is sold out and a little under two thirds of the installment option shields are left. Bodes well for a battle damage or stealth STRIKE shield variant.

This is from eFx's page:

The iconic Captain America shields seen in The Avengers were made in fiberglass. The molds were made by casting an aluminum "hero" shield used in Captain America: The First Avenger. Even though the aluminum shields were used in The Avengers for some scenes, for the most part, the new fiberglass shields were used because they were not only lighter, but they did not dent or get damaged as easily as the aluminum shields. There were several different sizes of the shield used, this one is the 24" diameter shield.

I didn't pick one up, because I simply can't justify the purchase since I have a CF shield, but I'm glad they sold out quickly. Can't wait to see more photos of these when people get them in hand.

I have to agree that the mount is hideous. It definitely detracts from the beauty of the shield. Couldn't they just have made some kind of reinforced clear acrylic wall mount that just cupped the bottom and sides of the shield?

The shields made for The Avengers were 24" in diameter. They did not make any aluminum ones for this film. What they did was take an aluminum one from TFA and cast it to make the fiberglass shields for The Avengers, thus, the aluminum shields from TFA are also 24" Obviously, I cannot comment why some of the shields made by RPF members are 26" Also the shield that was on Evans back, if I am not mistaking, was 18"

Thanks!

The reason for the frosted logos is to hide the small pad on the backside of the bracket. This will prevent the scratching and damaging of the shield when on the display. There will also be protective felt on the bottom and the back panel of the bracket.

There were actually several sizes used in TFA ranging from 23.5" to 26".

My mistake, my shield is apparently 25" and I didn't realize Evans had an even smaller shield for carrying on his back. But 18" seems WAY too small for his size, could that be right?

Here's a 25" shield on my back and my dimensions aren't too far off from Evans, anything smaller than say 23" would look too small no?

And from TWS, this one looks like a 25" shield:

While this one is probably a 23"-24":

Both options sold out! Wow, those went fast...Hate to see the secondary market prices after that.

Hope there is some time before the Battle Damaged one is up for order.
