eFX A New Hope Darth Vader Helmet

Here's an interesting little factoid.
The first licensed fiberglass Vader helmet was released by Don Post Studios in 1996.
It was part of the SW deluxe line and based on an inaccurate touring helmet.
It retailed at $1200 (and that was 15 years ago!).
The quality and pedigree of that Don Post helmet pales in comparison to this current eFX offering which comes directly from a mold taken off the one and only ANH helmet used on screen.

I think that it is astounding that eFX was able to dial in their replica for only $999 (or even $799).

I know I am new around here, but I am no ingratiator and I have to fully agree. I have purchased, over the years, the Don Post Classic Action and Deluxe and then the Master Replica's ROTS, and then a EPIV DV from a source I will not mention.

I have always paid about this price, or more, for officially licensed, non-vinyl, DV buckets and none appear to come close to this one, save the ROTS one, but that is not the mask that is THE VADER that set my imagination sailing when I was a child....this eFx one is.

Now I only hope eFx gets a shot at EPV and EPVI-revealed helmets,
each a year or so apart, so my bank account can manage it.

So the limitEd one is cheaper and less accurate?

Why does that seem odd?

Or maybe I read that wrong?

So the limited is 799. How much is the other one?

Limited is "cleaned up" or "idealized" with an edition size not to exceed 1000.
That is $799.

Legend is more film accurate with bumps and scratches, limited to 250, and is $999.

Costs more, more limited, and more accurate, which requires
more finishing details applied.

Someone, much earlier in this thread, said the amount of interest in this vs. the actual follow through with purchasing are two different things.

I see this as eFx making sure they sell out quickly on a product that they know the costs to produce at this level of accuracy without having units sitting collecting dust on a shelf somewhere because there were plenty to go around.

It also helps those who purchase see that it remains highly collectible.

The con would be there this will end up, eventually, to have been way too few, and re-casters will have a new, if modest, revenue opportunity via
making molds off of these.

That 250 edition size for the Legend is weak.

And let us not forget the $1200 DP Deluxe has, on top of all the other inaccuracy issues, the paint scheme reversed, making it cost even more to get it redone to be more accurate.

I agree with what's been said before...I've had over the years probably 10 high grade VAder buckets and this is top of the tops.. I only hope I can scrape up that deposit to secure my legend... That is the helmet you regret later for not purchasing.:love

250 IS NOT ENOUGH! It is gonna sell out with about 500 more people screwed! Oh well EFX passed up some big bucks for limited excitement. Hope I get one. Been saving have cash now and only 250 made. There will be 250 people just on the RPF to buy Legend version. The best prop ever made and they make it a frenzy to get one. Just do not understand??

Thanks for the clarification but... 250?

What?

Add a zero to the end of that and then it won't sound so bad.

Awesome product. Awesome price. Horrible idea on such a limited #!

ugh, I've been saving and holding back for this thing ever since I heard about it long ago. I've already got butterflies thinking that I'll be there waiting for it to go on sale and get server errors or site down messages from the overload and still won't snag one. Then of course there will be the chump to buy 5 or more all at once and scalp them on ebay.

I wish there was a way to limit folks to just one of each to avoid that.

There will be the few folks that were going to buy for their buddies, but those are few and far between the folks that buy what they can with their only intent to re-sell at a later date.

I see that all the time with the limited edition art prints I collect from SHAG.

Folks snag them, the print sells out, and then 2 weeks later the sold out print is on eBay for 3 times the price.

Does anybody know if you can purchase more than 1 as it would be much fairer if only one per customer but i guess there would be ways around this.

Hopefully the price and the deposit will help discourage scalping - multiple helmets would mean a major outlying of immediate cash with no possible investment return for some time. Let's hope the Legend version is scored by those who care about it.
