Now that's the kind of insane enthusiasm I like. You may need some thicker gauge fishing line for this one though! :)

I am so eagerly awaiting your kit I can't explain it. Back when I was MUCH younger, living in Georgia, I built an AMT Snowspeeder with a smoke bomb and a fire cracker in the back of the model. I ran two strands of fishing line about 60 feet off the top rail of my front porch all the way down to the edge of my front yard. I set the speeder on the lines, lit the fuse and let go of the model when smoke started pouring out of the back. Tilting the lines up and down the speeder waived its wing tips, smoke billowing out the back, it hit the grass and stakes at the bottom of the run, sat about 1 second then exploded into a million pieces all over my front yard. I was slack jawed, wide eyed and from that time on the snowspeeder was THE most beautiful ship in my heart from the Star Wars universe. My only regret is not having a camera to actually film my first special effect. I might be exagerating, but it was gorgeous.

I am really looking forward to your kit. And I will NOT be blowing it up! :lol

That';s a hell of a story!I did the exact same thing with the MPC At-At,Y-Wing,B-Wing and A-Wing fighters. It was F*&%@!@$%^ing awsome!

*Note to self:use less lighter fluid/gasoline....it tends to melt styrene and when lit...you have a bubbling wad of burning plastic. The fire crackers blow up and you get plastered with droplets of burning styrene...it hurts.:eek

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Hi,

Its still moving forward. I'm doing some R&D with Zbrush and having a go at sculpting the pilot heads and the flight helmets. The helmet is done, I'm onto the head now. After that the harpoon gun will be done.

I'm also starting to order materials and clear in the workshop as a prelude to the whole moulding and casting phase. Gulp!

I want to show the pilots, the gun bulkheads and the harpoon gun in the next update.... so you'll have to bear with me a bit! :)

How's the speeder comming along?

I'm sure we can all be patient for what must be considered one of the reasons to live.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Thanks guys, your support and interest is a great motivator! - its just frustrating for me that the time I'm able to devote to the speeder at the moment is waaay less than it was when I started. Not sure what the run up to Xmas is going to be like, but I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

Hi,

I plan to post up an update towards the start of next week or maybe over this next weekend.

Sorry its all slowed down a bit, but I'm still plugging away!

Re: Echo Station 57....Updated

Hi Speeder fans,

As promised, please see 9 pics that show the recently completed pilot, gunner, harpoon gun and main blaster front bulkheads, plus, the lower hull mould which has turned out quite well.
There are still a few adjustments to make to various things but hopefully you can get the general idea.

With the pilots finished that really is the last of the construction over. I intend to start the top hull mould next and carry on from there. I'll post updates of castings as and when I can, though I'm still trying to keep things moving along as fast as I can in between work and life committments!

Hope you like it....

Nick...WOW, i just got off the phone to Allan and was talking of this very build LOL.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Thanks guys. Glad you approve. The pilots truncate at the waist in the same way the ILM figures do. Infact these pilots have slightly more body and detail than the ILM originals. The ILM figures didn't have the pilots chest boxes which I have included.

I can't give an exact timescale as to when I will actually be able to sell finished kits as there are too many demands on my time at the moment, but I will be making a big dent in the moulding work this side of Xmas. I'll just have to hope you guys save some pennies for the New Year!
