Ebay ROTS Vader Helmet?

Is anyone familiar with the ROTS Vader that pops up on ebay here lately from Australia? Reason I ask is that I would love to do a reveal with a ROTS but I don't think I could bring myself to tear into the MR lid for the price. The paint job actually looks pretty smooth from what I could tell in the pics.

BE CAREFUL !!! If it's coming from Bentley O'toole in Australia you will not be happy.....

Definitely looks to be a recast MR to me, and yes, the lenses do seem to be iridescent looking. His eBay name is yexinhuang and his email is longchun. I sent an email asking for more pics and these are what I received. Would've liked some higher res shots but from what I can see the helmet and paint look to be good.

the one your thinking of it pontumac's helmet. i had one, it was nice but i think that was a reworked ot one.

btw, whats wrong with bentley otoole? I had ordered a yoda head off him, it hasnt arrived yet but the pics looked ok. does he have a reputation here?

As far as I understood, The Portumac is an Original sculpt, and the one in question on ebay should be avoided. The dome and mask dont line up and the lenses are way off... :unsure

I own a Portumac, Like it, but things need changed on it. The Neck line is tough to troop, hard to take the lid on and off. It also has a bolt on dome. Bolt diggs in your head if not padded right. Heavy lid.

Looks great on the stand though.

Still learning Vader stuff, but thats what I know. Might be wrong... Where are the Vader experts?:love

I think the Portumac lid is a great quality helmet - but to me, it has too much of an Original Trilogy look to really hit the mark as a ROTS helmet.

The other helmet that someone posted pics of looks like one I have seen on eBay from a fellow in Australia. It looks very much like it is a re-cast of an MR helmet. So - I would expect that it would need a lot of work to make it troop-able (padding, straps to secure the face mask, mesh for the grille, nice tusks, better lenses, review and improvement of the dome attachment). But, concerns about re-casting aside for the moment, it may be possible to get it ready for a total investment that is a lot less than buying an MR lid.

I won't comment on the recasting issue. Opinions on that are well known and I think as adults, we can all make an informed decision on whether or not its appropriate to buy this product.

First off, I wouldn't really be concerned about the dome alignment since I would be removing the fixing mechanism from the dome anyway and putting in another to facilitate the reveal parts. Definitely not concerned about the lenses, all easy fixes. Secondly, I have always understood that the type of "recasting" referred to around here was of projects done by others in the prop community. Some of you guys might want to do a bit more research on the origins of many of the more popular Vader lids and many other things out there. I would say there are very few original sculpts of Vader helmets around, all I'm aware of have been cast from various sources, some reworked a bit, some not. Actually, the closer the lid is to the original, the more provenance it has and therefore more desirable it is. Some that have been very famous are even direct unaltered casts from the Don Post mask. The really famous ones have claimed to have been cast from the real deal. Let me know if I'm missing something here though, as sometimes this recasting stuff can get out of hand around here. Making a statement about recasting in reference to the MR lid would be more than a bit hypocritical IMHO.

I believe the one you're talking about is the one done by fettpride and wellpaidkiller. That was a great sculpt, and I believe fettpride recently sold the molds on the bay, however I don't believe this is a cast from that mold, definitely appears to be the MR to me.
