hi all,
apparently, one of the Graflex pins on the DV6 is supposed to be missing - so my question I put to you is which one? if you were looking at it straight on, w/the control box facing you.

thx

No pin on this side:

One pin on this side:

Are we just talking about the lower pin of the two in each socket? There are close pictures out there from a museum exhibit

I'm not sure I understand your question, Tom.

From the photos I've found I believe the saber only has the central black plastic piece of the Graflex internals, so it only has the lower half of each socket. Of those, only one side has a pin.

Or am I misunderstanding?

I might be mistaken actually.
Always thought the upper section was there, reinforced by a plate and the choke so probably sanded flush underneath

This shot even has too much shadow to see a gap. What would have been there in its place, a plug instead of a plate/washer?

there are 4 pins - 2 on each side - on the Korbanth DV6, but only the bottom 2 are visible.

Ah. Right you are. We strayed to the RotJ/MoM Vader saber the DV6 is based on.

Reel Fakes recently mentioned having built one. Might he have some insight he's willing to share?

Funny, I always figured it was a plug. I tried to do some comparison shots with both the socket (top) and plug (bottom) alongside the prop:
