Does anyone know what the dome on the droid caller was?

A stainless steel measuring spoon?

A miniature stainless steel bowl?

Half of a ping pong ball painted silver? :lol

I don't think this has ever been nailed down as a found item... thoughts?

That one has remained a mystery since these prop boards were started.

I used the cap from a makeup kit my wife had. It was the correct diameter, but the dome itself wasn't tall enough.

Flash bulb for Kobold with a silver finish. Or a tube from an seventies model guitar amp...would use the same pin type plugs as the flash bulbs.

Here is an excellent closeup of Luke's droid caller (pic from www.partsofsw.com, excellent reference site put together by our very own lonepigeon).

I always thought it was a 'pipe end cap' that you get at surplus and hardware stores. I've seen different ones, more rounded, flat- just never quite that round.

That the it's too large to be something that plugs in isn't necessaryly true. It could have a 'mushroom' type shape and what we are seeing is only the top. There are plenty of bulbs and tubes and diodes and such from the 70's that would fall into that category.

The top diameter of the "stepped" Kobold is 1.3125", the "smooth" Kobold is 1.375"

I always thought it looked like the cap off a torpedo muffler from an RC aircraft engine.

I just happened to see this measuring spoon in the kitchen drawer and thought it looked pretty good. It's not the correct size, but it's not a bad first attempt. :lol

I keep seeing measuring spoons that look close to what is seen on-screen, but they all have handles. I guess the handles could have been removed, but It just seems like it's something else altogether.
