Re: DREDD 3D Lawgiver castings... (HOLDING for BATCH #3!)

Well, serves me right for not paying close enough attention. Missed batch 1, but PM sent to get in on batch 2 or 3. :)

Re: DREDD 3D Lawgiver castings... (HOLDING for BATCH #3!)

Looks great!! Since I suck at painting, anyone here offering their paint services?

Re: DREDD 3D Lawgiver castings... (HOLDING for BATCH #3!)

I am trying to finish up a painted version that I can use for a tutorial that will be e-mailed to everyone, complete with the brand of paint that I like to use and a few tips on how to weather the piece (again, in a way I prefer). This is a nice prop because all the paint job isn't complex and the base coats can all be found in off the shelf rattle cans.

Also, 9 of the first 10 orders shipped today via UPS. I'll be sending all the information to Joe later this evening and he will forward the tracking numbers to all concerned. The one that did not go out today was purchased with another non-DREDD prop that I offer and both will go out tomorrow.

Thank you!

Shawn

sorry, drool in keyboard.

Yeah, I'd very much like one. :)

Re: DREDD 3D Lawgiver castings... (HOLDING for BATCH #3!)

Got you down Barricade.

A couple bits of news:

We'll be taking orders again this weekend.

Also... there's a small chance that I might have found someone willing to do a run of holsters for these as well. (Note: IF that happens it will be a completely separate run and have nothing to do with this one besides the fact that the vacforming buck would be made from this Lawgiver for a perfect fit...)

Re: DREDD 3D Lawgiver castings... (HOLDING for BATCH #3!)

Oh and I almost forgot: the first round of tracking numbers have been sent out. More are on the way so if you have paid and haven't gotten one, we're still casting up your LG.

It would be real cool some of you that have your kits let us know what you think.

Thanks!

Yeah... sorry for the confusion there Supa... I was unclear whether or not you had sent payment earlier. We'll get you in on batch #3 which is coming up and that we'll be taking orders for this weekend.

Just arrived home from work to find the box waiting for me! I realize it still needs finished but the craftsmanship is exceptional! I am looking forward to the tutorial guide so I can put this into service.

Count me in for the holster!

Thanks for all the hardwork!

Re: DREDD 3D Lawgiver castings... (HOLDING for BATCH #3!)

Thanks, I'm very glad you're happy with it. More of the first 10 have been arriving today, so I wanted to jump in with just a few tips that should be helpful in lieu of having a completed tutorial.

The kit is fairly straightforward in it's assembly. The only thing I didn't plan on was that the rear clip of rounds that fit into the lower magazine sticks up a little too far to allow the mag to be slid all the way into the recess. This can be solved either one of two ways. You can either sand down the rear of the casings that extend past the mag, or you can sand the bottom of both clips to lower them. If you plan on permanently attaching the mag, then the former will be the easiest approach.

The only other thing I wasn't sure of until I tried it was glueing the two clear pieces of plastic "windows" along either side of the magazine's interior. Prime and paint the mag first (this includes weathering), and then place one clear piece inside. You may have to clip the lower forward corner of both pieces first. Once you've got one in position, add a single drop of superglue on either side of the plastic. I use a very fast setting superglue that wicks like crazy. I was concerned that the glue would fog up the plastic, but it doesn't. Once you paint up the rounds, glue them to each other (front to back) and apply a small amount of glue on the bottom of each row and insert. I'll throw up some photos tomorrow.
