I recently finished a build of 'The Moment' from Dr Who. It's not an exact replica, as I was using it to hold a pen set made for a Dr Who fan. The differences from the original and the one I built are:
o It's half of a moment as a cube shaped box didn't really work for my uses
o It's 4/5 scale as the original was just too big
o There's no 'screen' side, the bottom of the box is blank. (I didn't want batteries in the box potentially leaking a few years into the future).
Some build details:
o The latch works, it latches the lid of the box
o The latch mechanism is metal, I think the original was laser cut
o The frame engraving is machined on a CNC, the original was laser cut
o There's no structural glue in my build, the whole thing can be dismantled (and was, lots)
For anyone who is interested in making one of these boxes i have some videos of the box with build information on Youtube, and I will be putting a more detailed write-up on my blog. That is taking a while, though, so will be a few days away.
Here's a quick look at the latch mechanism:

And the videos:
There's not a lot of information about how these boxes are built, so I'm hoping that this will add to the pool and make it easier for people to build them. It's quite a big job, though, mine took a year working 2 hours or so a day, quite a lot of time.
