I never thought of using the toy as the base :unsure That would make it a little bit easier to build.

The two that I am working on now are made from scratch out of metal.

I would attempt to make one, but mine are too small.

and just build on it

mm, same size as ecclestons by the look of the concept art, tho its got a lot of brass parts. the emitter does not have sunken ridges in it which makes it easier to make, but decent screencaps please! esp the shot of finding the neural relay.
oh, i meant to post pics of the eccleston sonic which i finished, but am revamping it to try and make it work without a slot, so will post a pic of it soon.

Love the design, but it's a bit more complicated. I don't think they would want that to be the regular prop. The broke the other one too often. That one is just asking to be broken by some actor.

I like it too. Here is the best picture of it I have been able to find.
I would love a light and sound metal one of these along with a metal light and sound current series sonic.

so the driver would have to need 2 different tops( the emitter crystal) that could be switched
if you wanted to get it to light the same as the tv programme

no it didnt extend, the back portion looks like the Judoon scanner body

Awesome episode and I love River Songs/The Doctors sonice. Brilliant. Great screan grabs and picture. I think I like that one better then the current Sonic.

Also, didn't anyone else notice that Rivers' 'squareness gun' was Captain Jacks Sonic Gun?

Yes, I noticed that as soon as she used it.

It was even pointed out in Confidential that it WAS Jack's blaster. He left everything he had on the TARDIS when he "died" and The Doctor left him on the space station. River just "pilfered" it from The Doctor's stash of goodies.
