Dr Doom Costume HELP!!! This is my first build!

Dr Doom movie or comic? 1305608-169.2.jpg

More along the lines of the comic, old school doom. I just modified a ironman pep. I'm all apple so I couldn't get any doom files. I just kinda went off in my own direction, but I want to keep comic style tho! I don't want to look exactly like every other doom, but I want there to be no mistake it's DOOM!!!

I just shot a quick light coat of silver on my helmet to show me all the flaws. I have a idea on how to firm up the jaw, ill let you guys and gals know how it turns out........

So I sanded the fiberglass resin I put on the helmet.i also added some mesh in the cheeks. I also think I found a simple solution to the stiffness problem. I added another layer of foam on parts inside. I needed to pad it anyway and it's working well. I used rubber cement to affix the foam to the inside of the helmet. I want to hot glue in a ziplock bag or something in the top to hold a ice pack incase it gets too hot. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

I can't believe it myself!
Thanks for all the feedback man I'm starting to freak out about having to make the armor! Any suggestions anyone!!!!!!!!!!

For the armor itself, I have seen people use anything from foam to sheet metal or steel. I use sintra (heat shape-able PVC sheet) from my own patterns. It pretty easy to work with, sands and paints up great, and takes well to bondo.

Yah I picked up some 5mm foam sheets at hobby lobby and ill try those. I don't have any doom armor patterns so ill just make it up as I go again. It's worked ok so far. Ill look into sintra, there's this fabric you heat and it hardens too. I forgot what it's called. If I rember ill post it. It's sick tho.

Here's a update! Dr doom survived his first battle today!! Mostly victory, but he did sustain some damage. I was on my way home from ace hardware and I had the helmet on the back of my scooter........yah yah scooter how lame I know. At least it's a Honda ruckus! Anyway some lady ran me over on my scooter, well Doom landed on his noggin F*#K!!!!
We'll there's some cracks and chips in the helmet, noting to extreme. It did crack the eye to the bridge of the nose, so it's weak structurally there.
So what do you guys think.....could I just throw on some more fiberglass resin and call it good? Would that fix the cracks?
I'm ***king pissed I need this doom to be great. There's a guy that volunteers in his iron man aromor at the children's hospital here and I was hopping if my doom is good enuff I could volunteer with him, some hero villain thing?
Anyway sorry for the long winded post here's some battle pics hahahahahahaha you can't defeat doom!

So here's my pattern for my gauntlet, it's just simple as hell. I don't need any set backs. Here's a pic of the Nike lacrosse gloves I'm using. Sports authority really hit me in the old fudge factory for those. Like $80 bucks!
I just used a really heavy paper wrapped it around my forearm and glove until I had a cone shape. Then I clamped it and traced where it over lapped, then cut that section out. Add some tape and garnish and bam you got a ghetto gauntlet!

Pretty damn nice. Got a Doom build going myself. I really dig that lacrosse glove idea. Interested in how it turns out, much luck fellow doomer

Thanks beneath doom, do you have your build up? Error yours is amazing, I wish I had someone here that would teach me how to sculpt and make molds, etc.......
So I made my shin guards tonight. I once again took heavy paper wrapped my leg, marked it and then cut out the over lap. I then drew a pattern in the middle to try to give it some style....I guess it didn't work like I wanted. Cut out the pattern, cut the pattern out of foam, hot glue and there you go.
I'm thinking about cutting the shin guards down the sides and using a lot of rare earth magnets to hold them together. Anyone ever try that???
