Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

update: I resined the back before I went to bed last night.

Before I went to work today I fiberglassed the inside of the Front and back of the Torso.

The Front is really solid. The back could use some more near the upper shoulder and the side joining points that would connect to the front chest section.

I didn't use any supports as I'm going to shape it with a heat gun so that it fits properly on me and so the halves fit together.

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

I have to admit...you have really good pepakura skills!

Arg I want to redo my chest and back piece now :(

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

I'm loving this stealth. Looks really good so far.
Cannot wait to see this finished.

Also, when you say the heat gun method, what do you mean by this? :p I've never personally heard of this method.

KEEP IT UP!

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

If the parts are little off. I use a heat gun on the fiberglass (inside of piece)
so I can flex it and shape it better before it cools down.
Example as stated earlier: chest and back. Where they connect at the collar and the sides, for better fitting purposes.

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

small update

Special Delivery from Finhead's workshop
very stoked on getting these :)

Also Finished the Flaps.

Now, I'm going to resin and fiberglass them then I can redo the helmet if I get some time over the weekend.

I'll have an update on Monday around this time, hopefully I'll have the helmet pepped again by then.

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

Did I miss Something? How Can I get my hands on some of these? Finehead,Stealth, Show me the way.You guy's are the Vets. Stealth you need to change your name to represent Speedbulding! Lol your'e the Guru to pepakura.

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build

Nothing too big but it's an update:
The Helmet has been re made and I'm satisfied with this one. I left more folding lines to capture the shape more. Sometimes it helps leaving them out.
This time around I used them.
(I'll update the first post with this helmet)

The other one was a little off in the back and never noticed until I was done fiberglassing the inside.

I also glassed the flaps with epoxamite and then a coat of smoothcast 321 over that since I have some left over. They are nice and sturdy now.

Now onto the shoulders I guess tonight.
