Donald Glover for Spider-Man

PLEASE stay as far away from this idea as possible.

Ummmmmmmmm! Nick Fury used to be white but still replacing him with Mr. Jackson was a smart move! The animated character was based off of him!

However Spidey? No.........I think not! That would be like making Don Cheadle Iron Man and Robert Downey, Jr. War Machine!!!

Do not mess with the universe please! Stupid idea!

<Besides his head is too big!>

You know what cracks me up? Every time someone says something like "Catwoman is white, Spider-man is white" people go "Hmmmm that guy must be racist if he thinks that way!"

Okay, so what about we make Shaft with a white guy cast as the main character. Would it be racist against white people to say "No way man, Shaft is black!" No, no it wouldn't.

What if they make a X-Men movie and make Storm white. Would it be racist to say thats a bad idea? No.

What if they rebooted the "Steel" movie that had Shaq playing the lead and they cast a white guy in the role? Would that be a good idea? (Well, maybe remaking the movie wouldn't be a bad idea, but Steel is a black guy so he should have a black actor playing him.

What if they remade the Blade films and cast a white guy as Blade? Would it be racist to think its silly to do that? No it wouldn't. Blade is black.

So why is it instantly thought to be racist to want a white character to be played by a white character? It's silly to me.

Your absolutely right is is silly and stupid but that would be first thing out of anyones mouth as a protest to why it should be done.

Re: donald4spiderman (Donald Glover)

Nope. I'm saying it. Peter Parker is white. This kid may have all of the chops in the world, but you do NOT so fundamentally change a character. I stopped reading after "Halle Berry played a convincing 'Storm'". First, Storm was african. Second, one of my biggest peeves about Storm in the movies is the accent slowly going away.

You screw with the way things are, people will NOT go to see these movies. It's really that simple. I do not want Tyler Perry's version of Spider-Man.

Yeah, ok. To hell with being PC. Spiderman is a white kid with glasses who gets picked on all the time at school. I wouldn't cast a black kid as spiderman anymore than I would cast a white kid as Rudy Huxtable in the inevitable Cosby Show movie reboot saga.
Spiderman is white. Black Panther is black. Falcon is black. Captain America is white. John Stewart is black. Its who the characters are. This nonsensical separation of skin color and person is ridiculous. I am white. It's part of who I am. If you take away the white then I'm not me anymore, I'm someone else. It's got nothing to do with ability, but it's still part of identity. You wouldn't cast Jay Baruchel as Shaft would you?

Halle Barry was a weak-ass storm, who was supposed to be an Amazonian Goddess who had to reign in her emotions so the weather didn't **** up. Gina Torres would have been a much better choice... or someone who actually didn't spell scrawny and weak trying to play tough and strong.

Easy guys. Donald Glover is a comedian who likes nerdy stuff; this is a joke to him and it's on his blog. This isn't something the studio is considering, or anything he really expects to be taken seriously. "If it happens I will buy each and every one of you a mini cooper?" Lighten up! I can't believe someone actually took the time to write that lengthy response to this idea.

So a black guy can't play Spiderman? Wow. Unreal. :thumbsdown Heaven forbid they cast a black guy that can act and do a great job in the role. HEAVEN FORBID!

So you would have no problem with Indiana Jones being black in the next movie?

It's sad to see the immediate dissmissal of any actor playing a role based on his or her race, really sad.
