Doctor Who's Hand-in-a-Jar

Hey everyone, long time lurker, first time starting my own post.
I've done a bit of searching on the forum and couldn't find anyone who'd asked this before. Has anyone identified the case Torchwood / Captain Harkness uses to store the Doctor's hand? I'm looking at putting one together for a friend and I'm trying to figure out what the basic case is.

Here's links to the small number of reference pics I can find online:

Any help ID'ing the case would be appreciated.

That would be an awesome prop to have around in my office... I'll be watching this thread (and my local stores) closely!

I'm pretty sure it was scratch built. As for the hand, you could either cast your own hand, or get one of those halloween grows in water type deals.

The jar was a scratch build by the art department.

The hand - or hands - varied. The first hand was actually a cast of my hand. David wasn't available for a cast so I cast my own and that's the hand seen flying off when the Sycorax chops off the Doctor's hand and then seen in the jar. Later it showed up in Torchwood and they wanted it to twitch so we made an animatronic hand but cheated and cast one of our crew who had bigger hands than mine to make it easier to fit the mechs in.

When the hand came back to Doctor Who this was, finally, a cast of Davids' hand as he was now available for a cast and he also wanted it to be his hand as it woudl be heavily featured.

Thanks a heap for the information, mfxreplicas. At least knowing it's a scratch build will help - I can stop looking for the base container. I've a cast of my hand I was planning to use, so I can base the scale off of the hand I've got.

Again, thanks!

Thanks for all the help folks. I've been looking at screen caps and re-watching footage for comparison, and I think the top-handle is a Medium ATA Case Recessed Handle. I found them pretty cheap on the devil-eBay.

Still no clue about the one on the side.

Just found this and thought it would help!

From BobsBits who supplied lots of bits and bobs to the show:

Its described as an Alien life-support unit, you can see the containers quite clearly in their acrylic holders.

Pretty definite I.D. there Tom , on the nail ...even to the handle on the top . Loks like the prop dept just added a hand and some tubes to make the bubbles...

But the question remains, did Bobs bits supply the actual vessels or just what they sit on ... The Torchwood vessels may just be leftovers from the DrwHO set ...
