So a few weeks ago I sent Tony Magnoli (of Magnoli Clothiers) a couple swatches of fabric (and I believe a couple others did as well, feel free to chime in). Well, he didn't waste any time. Here's what I got in the mail from him a couple days ago.
First the blue. The original shirting swatches pictured on either side were sent to me by Steve Ricks, who managed to track down a few yards a while back. The stripe spacing on Magnoli's prototype was off by 2 mm. This has already been fixed. I think he really nailed the color, though.
And if you want to be really impressed, here's the brown. It's a bit heavier than the original stuff, but otherwise a nearly exact reweave. On the left is Primrodo's printed fabric, on the right are the Baron Boutique wool and cotton, the GAP swatch is right of center and the rewoven swatch is left of center.
And getting up really close:
Magnoli will start making his suits with these fabrics sometime in the next couple months, and he'll also be offering the fabric for sale. No word yet on pricing.
