Doctor Who opinions

You know the one question I have?

It has to do with the fact that there were two doctors in the past. (And a second tardis)

From that moment on, there were two doctors in that universe. One was 30 minutes behind the first. But the first one set the charge that caused the flood, thereby killing the second doctor (who would have regenerated).

But considering the first doctor simply tucked himself into the stasis pod, there remains a second doctor (and tardis) in the universe

I know it's a gimmick but I really like the guitar. Especially since it is him actually playing it. I also liked the breaking of the 4th wall with the bootstrap paradox.
I liked both as well, but I'm hoping the "breaking the fourth wall" bit isn't going to become Moffat's new gimmick and be over-used; a little goes a long way.

...I also like his tendency to say something akin to 'But what's the real question?', almost as if he is asking it of the viewing audience (of course he is, it's a TV show)...
It's lines like that 'the real question' that (to me anyhow) are throwbacks to the original episodes. I can recall Troughton, and Baker both knowing answers and trying to teach their companions/etc to see the answers for themselves. Something that's been missing in the newer episodes IMO.
I agree; it's always more interesting when the mentor shows his/her apprentices how to arrive at the correct answer on their own rather than having to tell them the answer every time. And if the stories are written well, as an audience member it's usually more fun to take that journey to discovery with them.

No, I think you missed something. The Doctor went back in time, watched a few things, saw the woman killed by the Fisher King, then hopped in the TARDIS to try to get out of the area to prevent his own death. The TARDIS only let him go back 30 minutes, so he watched himself arrive, watched him do his thing and after the woman died the second time for the Doctor, the older version then knew the younger version got into the TARDIS to leave and become himself. He sent the man back to his own TARDIS, took the power supply and set the bomb at the dam and confronted the Fisher King. He tricked the Fisher King to go out to the dam, crawled into the stasis pod and the bomb exploded, flooded the area and the Doctor slept until he was back at the present and the TARDIS arrived with the man inside it.

Finally got around to watching Under the Lake and Before the Flood. I enjoyed them, overall. The "cute" parts were toned down, and the episode felt like classic Who to me. Also, I liked the more subtle hints at what might come (e.g. the Minister of War, and how the Doctor got the idea in the first place). Lastly, I couldn't tell whether Clara really IS "fine" or whether her "I'm fine" bit masks a more damaged soul. At the moment, I'm leaning towards (and hoping for) the latter. I'm hoping this is a front and she's actually a lot more screwed up than she appears. She can keep it together fine most of the time, but I want her to be damaged by what happened with Danny and how it affected her. There was also the nice bit from Cass who called her on being willing to sacrifice other people too readily. So, we'll see. But overall, a welcome turnaround from the first two episodes.

I'm at the point where I may have to jump ship. I love Capaldi as the Doctor, I love the look of his Tardis, love the throwback feel of the last couple seasons, but to me the whole thing is starting to just go round and round without ever getting anywhere. First we had the girl who waited, then the impossible girl, now the girl who died. Galifrey is still lost, the Daleks never die, the Master never dies, the Doctor won't stop shouting "Because I'm the Doctor and I fill in the blank!".

Steven Moffat has been given a very unique set of chess pieces but unfortunately he won't stop playing checkers with them. Jenna Coleman is awesome but her character has never fit in my opinion and her story line fizzled out. Matt Smith was terrific as the Doctor but his run ended with a thud, stories are left with dangling threads, character arcs go nowhere, the music continues to pound my eardrums, and through it all nothing is concluded, no one simply goes back home, everything has to be too grand.

I want someone to take over who has the writing skills and "balls" to stop tip-toeing around the constricting walls that have been built up over the years. Just tell us the Doctor's name, we've heard other Time Lord names and they're not that hard to pronounce, the world won't end if we hear it. Find Galifrey and let the Doctor bury his past. Just have a simple companion who is not part of some incredible scheme. These things will not end the series but will add more possibilities in the right hands, but then no one in the entertainment industry seems interested in moving forward just reversing a bit and then trudging over the same old ground.

My two year old know's exactly one joke:

Him: Knock knock
me: Who's there?
Him: Doctor
Me: Doctor......who? *groaaaan*
Him: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Still not liking this season at all....for about the same resons Mola outlined above
It just is not fun right now. It is tired and seems to be making grand that which is not.
I guess it is Moffit to blame and the writing is bad. we need fresh people in there as people keep saying
I am disappointed that Clara stayed on and she should have left when she was planning to go.
the whole Sonic Sunglasses is a jump the shark item for me.

I did like the jab at the glasses in the Viking episode when he puts them on and starts a whole dialog about there being more technology in those little glasses then their civilization would develop in 90,000 years... and then he reaches up and grab em and breaks em. Loved that!

I was hoping that would signal the end of the Sonic Sunglasses, but Capaldi appears to be wearing them again in the upcoming episode. :unsure

If you wanna wear sunglasses, just wear 'em. They don't have to be sonic. The addition of the sonic sunglasses seems pointless. They're functionally no different from the screwdriver as a "get out of explanation free" device. If the screwdriver is becoming too much of a problem, fine, retire it for a bit as a prop. But the sunglasses strike me as courting controversy for the sake of courting controversy.

I get that some of this is inspired by Capaldi and Moffat wanting even less rich kids to be able to be the Doctor (hence the hoodie), but there's a point where you lose what makes the Doctor different from most people in terms of the devices he uses and the outfits he wears. If the Doctor looks like everyone else and has a "sonic iPhone" or whatever, then he's basically just an who is otherwise totally indistinct from any of the rest of us. If I throw on a hoodie and sweatpants to go walk my dog, does that mean I can be the Doctor, too? What if my dog is a sonic dog?

he should go back to wearing a piece of celery on his lapel .its cheap enough for cosplay

yeah the new doctor stories don't really seem kid friendly. like the show has always leaned towards in the past even when it was life of death the doctor diffused the tension with jokes or something now he just doesn't seem want to explain anything just do the job and go home or just ignore the problem like with the Viking village he basically told Clara that it was just one village and it was century's in the past so who cares?

best run on sentence ever.

Why is Lion-O hiding in the shrubbery? Its a good shrubbery, with a nice little path etc etc .
Always a good idea to wear sunglasses in the dark.
No its not Lion -O, its Leandro ,he's just come through the door. And he's breathing fire!!!!!
This is an awful episode. Last weeks was poor but it made me laugh there was so much Monty Python in it. This, this its just so cringingly bad its not even funny anymore. I writing this as an antidote to the pain of listening to the dialogue. Don't believe me then just listen to it as they hang Sam Swift. Then you might just want to yourself.
Oh no Purple is the colour of death!!!! (then this script must have been written with purple crayons then )
Oh great Lion-O bringing more Thundercat friends.
Perhaps not ,they are reversing death now.
Damn, they've brought Sam Swift back. (at least he hasn't made a near death experience joke)

I now will never be able to watch Game of Thrones thanks to the scars this has left on my memory.

On the plus side there was no Clara.

On ****** shes arrived and he's playing the guitar.

Oh oh selfie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She's lying Doctor ,she's leaving to save her career.

Hooray Zygons!!!!!!!!!!

Its not living sun, crap child singing terrible, but it was boring as hell.

I said to a friend today they could do without the Doctor playing guitar every other episode, I thought I was kidding, but at 3 out of 6, I guess I wasn't.

It's a good job they didn't show Tennent's special talent every fortnight.

Its not just highway men that are well hung.
