Doctor Who - Letter

Why has no one been posting recently? Has every1 just decided to wait until the letters get put on display or something?

Probably.

I've occasionally googled stamp images, and all I can add so far is that I think that 16 pence stamp posted earlier is wrong. Reasoned thus: the beige/buff/neutral coloured 16p stamp is a 1973 issue (the new 16p ones are pink). Unless there's a significance to that date I'm missing I'd have thought the art dept. would just use what stamps they had to hand. (although I accept I may be wrong on that)

I did try searching for stamps specifically issue in Wales, but I couldn't find anything that seemed to match. Long story short - yeah I think people are waiting to see if these envelopes go on display.

Theyve all been raptured!!!!

Nah, only joking.... I think ;)

I don't have anything else to say!!! I do plan on making up some this week, still inaccurate as we are still short of 2 stamps, but I'm meeting some friends at collectormania in Milton Keynes on Saturday and want to give them as gifts. Unfortunately can only go Saturday, but they're all going Sunday, when Alex Kingston is going to be there. I'm hoping they might want to get theirs signed????

They should ask Alex how accurate the letters are. Im sure she has seen them close up :)

the only problem with river's letter is the red stamp is a custom one from zazzle.com. so you'll need a photo of it.
I know that stamp in the bottom right of Amy's is a Machin I just don't know which one I shoved the 16p one in because it's the closest I could find they were being printed in 1971 and 1972 as well so it could be because that was the last lunar mission or that it's 40 years ago. Or I could be wrong which is more likely.

I know it's not for accuracy, but how about trying a CED III version. There's no clear images (so far) & it would be alot easier for us Yanks to do. Assuming it was sent from the US.

For the record, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring if some of these are being made. I have vision problems & am not currently able to do any of this kind of work.

I was about to say that all the effort so far "looked" good, but based on my last statement, that compliment doesn't hold alot of weight does it?

Ok, so ice included everything suggested here, and gone poetic license on the rest. Will post pics tomorrow :)

So I was playing around with laying out the stamps and two thins occurred to me:
Firstly I think the bottom windmill stamp may be correct, but it looks like it's been cropped at the bottom. (see the attached pic)
Secondly, I don't know how I would do the text. Can't print silvery/white onto a dark envelope, and I not sure if trying to print the blue onto a plain envelope would work.

spotted this a minute ago wondered what you think about it instead of the windmills?

gave it a bit of a fettle just blurred a bit and a slight change of colour to account for the oranginess of the original.

looks good to me.

p.s. I'd go for printing in black and then over inking with a silver pen. 2¢

I had wondered about it being a ship. Nice detective work YP! Gonna go change my image now.
The silver pen idea? could work if my hands are steady enough. Just got to buy some Tardis-blue envelopes now.
BTW, I don't know how well you can see it on my image, but I 'watermarked' the stamps. Where the modern ones say 'Royal Mail' over and over in wavy text I put 'Replica'. Similar with the postage marks, and I guessed in the date by putting the airdate of the Impossible Astronaut

Those envelopes are a cow to find in small numbers although easier now it's near father's day.
I can see the watermark now you've pointed it out, good idea to cover your back.

Angelus Lupus that envelope looks fantastic! Is there a specific reason why they say replica instead of royal mail?
