Alright, I had a chance to test fit everything and it's virtually perfect! Certain joints require a bit of prep before they match perfectly but I'll outline all of that in the guide I'll put together during my process. Here are the various components all in pieces and assembled.
First, the sonic, in pieces and assembled. The acrylic rods are also in place to complete the look. The switch slides very nicely and the twist lock joint is perfect. The only thing is the switch detail on the surface didn't print well. I need to fix this anyway on the new model as the ridges were too small on mine vs the prop. The knurling on the back section however is perfect!
Keep in mind, the housing seen on the top left of the picture with all of the pieces will not be included in the model as these will be sent to 13doctorwho for installing the electronics package.
Next, the confession dial. I tried to take pictures to highlight the surface details but the images don't do them justice. Once painter, they'll really pop! Third picture shows the lid off and the orb in place. I printed the orb in Frosted Ultra Detail for a better finish and it was definitely well worth it! Last picture shows the detail.
Here's the port stand - sans bottom piece since Shapeways goofed up and left it out of the order. I should have a reprint sent along to me shortly. The last picture shows the battery plates and button cells in place, as well as the push switch and an LED in one of the six clips. These components all fit perfectly - the only thing that needs adjusting is the bit that the sonic pushes into the switch and the clips for the LED's could stand to be a bit tighter fit.
And lastly, a picture of all three together!
I'm going to take the weekend to paint and assemble everything - hopefully the snow doesn't delay the electronics package from arriving soon so I can test fit all of those parts as well. Only a matter of days now before everything is ready to go!!!
