Doc's foam/fiberglass work + Mark 42 painted pieces

Re: Doc's foam Builds + plastidip vs New coating test results are in

legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol thanks man:D

Wow! Looks awesome Doc. I'm just about finished with my foam build and am getting ready to paint it. What's your secret formula for sealing and painting?

Thanks TryChick, I'll post soon a tut

Yes!

Doc, it sounds like you have made some changes to your process... I will be making a foam vest for a video game character and would definitely like to use the best process out there.

Those are some pretty awesome videos! Gloves look great. Also, I am wondering what technique you use to hold the fingers together and 'hinge' for articulation. I have used a few and, while I am happy with what I have, I am always looking at different ways of doing things.

Thanks Darkside, I more like improved my method of painting. Since I started this hobby I've been unorthodox in my builds. Like I try to make newbies understand that there are no rules in this hobby. This hobby is a way to get creative and inovative and to not be afraid to try new methods or create your own. This hobby would be boring if everyone built their suit the same way. heres another vid just took right now to show closeup of flexibilty and shine. But still Lots of people think that getting an awesome flexible finish on foam is impossible and what I say to that is I just did:D

Re: Doc's foam builds + flexible shiny finish impossible? Not anymore

Wow, that looks fantastic Doc! I can't wait to see the tutorial :D. I hope that the 'ingredients', so to speak, are easily found Down Under as well!

Hey Doc - I've got to say that your work is truly amazing stuff. I can appreciate on how your skills as a builder evolve, setting a higher standard. Not just for yourself, but for everyone who has enjoyed and has reaped the rewards of your hard work. I would absolutely love to see a tutorial on this. Thanx...GM

Re: Doc's foam builds + flexible shiny finish

another late one but check it out ...ribbed fingers!! or finger I mean. Trying to get my glove to cover all skin n no need for wearing anything inside tje gloves. They will look insane when finished :lol:cool

Re: Doc's foam builds + flexible shiny finish

Looks great! I bought the same stuff for mine in 1/2" diameter but will need some bigger diameter for the thumb. You just hot gluing it in? What did you put on the top of the fingers? I can't tell from looking at your previous picture...

Re: Doc's foam builds + flexible shiny finish

Thanks everyone. Heres a vid of how ribbed fingers retract for better articulation. Its not just slapped on:lol its well thought out to make it comfortable and function awesome. Took me awhile to figure out best way. I dont think I've seen a full foam Ironman glove with ribbed and back inserts on fingers and still be able to bend before. I could be wrong but if not then there ya go, it can be done. I'll post vid of everything when its completed. Also it will be another option offered in my glove thread in JY. Im very happy with the results. Wait till ya see it painted....enjoy:D
