Doc's foam/fiberglass work + Mark 42 painted pieces

Re: Foam with rondo+ Mark 7 fully painted arms

I know you've mentioned somewhere else in here....but what size (mm) foam are you using. And what size are the foam sheets (inches)?

The only foam available where I live is at local craft stores (Michael's/Hobby Lobby). It comes in sheets 12"x18" and is only available in 2,3,&5mm. :confused

yup 2,3 and 5mm are the sizes I use. I buy them in those size sheets too 12x18.

Re: How to paint foam and other cool stuff

I just read through to page 30 and all I can say is wow! You have done an absolutely amazing job on your armor. It is incredible what you been able to do with foam. I really appreciate you posting all of your tips and tricks along the way, especially the sealing and painting tips. I can hardly wait to see "your" finished suit! :D

This is the primer and clearcoat I use. I use the filler primer cuz it leaves a real smooth surface:)

That filler primmer looks exactly the sort of stuff I need for my mass effect build to get the foam really smooth, I've tried googling it though and can't find a UK supplier, does anyone know if you can get this in the UK or know of an equivalent? I went to Halfords for a look and they had a "Primer Filler" but it was yellow of all colours and I read reviews and it didn't sound promising.

Re: How to paint foam and other cool stuff

Heres one of many projects I'm trying to finish. Mark 7 shins and so far 1 boot :lol still working on other. The vid shows the level of detail I try to put in for the customers I build for and the articulation of the boot. Its scaled to fit client thats why its big on me:D But doing these builds sure make me want to finish mine:lol ...soon , very soon enjoy;)

Dang that is awesome! I would love to walk on the ceiling like that. Are those boots magnetic or do they use some kind of suction technology? ;)
