Re: foam with rondo+ brand new foam gloves and helmet

heres another project Ive been working on for someone What ya'll think? almost done with bottom half lol

dude these proportions are awesome man. I need to see how you do your scaling some time... nothing is ever too exaggerated which is tough to pull off. particularly your mark vi chest doesn't stick forward too far as a lot of ppls do in my opinion.

you've probably seen this, but this is a link I always refer to... right around the 3:43 mark:

The Avengers B-Roll I - Trailer Addict

that chest lays nice and flat similar to yours. fresh dude.

btw what files did you use?

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam MK6 pic heavy

nice, i like the back of the knee, foam right?
calves make or break the lower legs.

hey doc have you found a good brush on touch up paint for sunburst gold, and the metal speck? im on the hunt for a fine brush on paint for those both.

i could just respray in some areas, but im a suck for keeping my stuff looking new and pristine.

for repairs i just get a small painting brush and just sray some of the paint on a paperplate and dip my brush and paint it

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam MK6 pic heavy

ive done that but it seems like spray paint has thinner in it, and ends up breaking down the paint im trying to repair all the way to the primer or plastidip. dunno what it is, but i have very limited luck with going that approach

when it looks like that its cuz ya need to shake the rattle can to mix paint

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam MK6 pic heavy

Ok, first off thanks to Docholiday, Stealth and Indiefilmgeek for inflicting upon me this overwhelming sickness (a need to make a foam Iron Man suit)! :rolleyes I have been lurking around trying to check out all of the ways that people seal and paint. I just finished reading this whole thread (whew!) and I didn't see any discussion of using watered down latex caulk instead of PVA or mod podge. Roadkiller posted it here:
http://www.therpf.com/f24/paint-eva-foam-134416/

First, run your heat gun over the area until it changes colour/texture. You'll know it when you see it, no need to burn it :lol This cuts down on the foam's ability to absorb paint deeply into it.

Then 'paint' the piece with a mixture of acrylic latex caulk mixed with water. You'll need to experiment with the mixture a bit to get a ratio you are happy with. Acrylic latex caulk is flexible, paintable, and inexpensively available at your local hardware store. I've found 300ml tubes of "Alex" brand here in Canada for $2, which goes a long way in this application.

This provides a smooth flexible surface.
Note: The acrylic caulk, used uncut with water but spread thinly so that it can cure all the way through, is also great to fill seams and cracks in EVA foam work.

I didnt see mention of it in this thread and was curious if anyone had played with before to see if it seals well? Thanks for your input

how do you feel about the mod podge spray, rather than the brush on?
seems like you could waste alot with the spray and you wont cover as much as you can with a thick layer or brush on..

BUT, you wont have the crazy brush strokes which leave the final finish kinda loppy if you dont take your time and do very thin coats

any ideas?
