Dissecting a toy TIE Fighter

Not at the moment. As I've entered the home stretch on the X-Wing, it has taken all my focus. But the X-Wing is about 98% done now... :)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!!

Well, I finally did it. I bought the regular and Interceptor TIE’s the other day.
They are, for the most part, pretty awesome and I am so glad I got them. The new wings of the regular TIE are really cool indeed. The detail of the Interceptors wings are very pleasing aswell and not too thin, so the potential is truly great.

Sadly, the way things are, I am pretty much unable to do any modeling until about January, (oh the agony!!!) but I can’t wait, and I think I may try and mod these first before I get back to the snowspeeder.

How are the wings on your Interceptor? Mine are a little warped.

Progress on my TIE standard should resume soon now that the X-Wing is done.

Really!!! I'm having a look.

Is it like a very slight curve going outwards?

I'm seeing, where the black panels end at the trianglulated front, it causes a slight taper (maybe 1 - 2mm) in the softer plastic of the front frame. (Making sense?)

If so, on mine, it does seem very minor. Maybe when I get to primering it, I will notice it more.

Try dipping it in some warm water and sandwich it between two flat boards, see if that helps.

I'm Making pretty good progress on mine, just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can shoot some primer.

Here's where I'm at so far, just need to add a few details and I'll be ready for some primer:

Bumpty bump.

Anyone have any new updates? I just got my TRU TIE in the mail today.

I'm toying (no pun intended) around with the idea of installing actual Koolshade into the wing stars, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to grind a channel for it down by the hub. And of course there's the matter of actually obtaining a piece of Koolshade. I found 3 places in the US that stock it, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to order a small 3' x 3' piece. If I have to make a larger bulk order, would anyone be interested in going in on it with me?

Also, does anyone have any pics of the filming model cockpit or vaguely accurate garage kit cockpits? I can't seem to find any anywhere.

Heh, I got my own cockpit picture myself at the Star Wars Exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia this weekend.
