I really don't have a leg to stand on here as I've been a bit too over the top about this show myself at times so I'm going to zip it.
I think your comments are more measured and considered than mine .. I respect that !

I see an uptick in negativity - and lets be honest, the movie world goes through phases, and every phase has terrible stuff. We're in superhero flicks/remakes, and yeah, there are some terrible movies, series coming out...

But I noticed a HUGE uptick in youtube vids, articles, social in general that FEED on the negativity. I watch a LOT of video essays... I'll even watch movies just to watch the essay's of someone I respect... but now there are a lot less essay's and a lot more complaint videos (who love the term, WOKE). and it's NOT because movies and series are worse - or any worse than any other decade, it's that ripping something apart gets clicks, and loving it does not.

My faves, Redletter Media kinda started it, but those guys are still generally out there to make people laugh, even when complaining (Picard)... When Mike Stoklassa pretty much LOVED Kenobi, he did a vid on it... but a lot of these channels would NEVER cuz they may lose subscribers... Hell RLM will actually go against their subscribers wants, and do what they find fun (like they refused to review The Batman)

Now almost all these threads here erupt into complaint fests which is so bizarre to me. I love discussing movies, but if I hated a series I would stop watching and I certainly wouldn't spend time typing about it.

Apparently I will type about my disdain for monetizing anger on youtube... so I guess I'm kind of a hypocrite there....

It is almost like someone hears a new term and then they run with it and think they sound cool attaching it to anything they can. It has become like Oprah handing out prizes... "you get a prize".... "and you get a prize"... "and you get a prize". But in this case, it has become... "That is woke"... "and that is woke"... "and that is woke"... "oh, and that is woke".

I see another member here constantly using the tern "grifter" in a lot of posts, and I want to vomit. Cool... you know a word.... now use it sparingly!

I'm in exactly the same place .. The person I most love in the world likes this show and i don't spoil it for her . If my opinion is too strong for some it's not to annoy them , it's just a bad show !

Most of the shows I consistently watch are with a friend who is homebound. Whatever they wanna watch, I watch -- to a point! I survived the first season of Locke and Key, after that I was done. The show You, two seasons *exhale*

If the person you love most likes the show, then Quality Time it with them.

Use it as an opportunity to snuggle with them. Foot massage!

Keep their drinks and snacks on a steady flow.

Claim you are getting them a refill or popping the brie out of the oven when the show is getting TOO MUCH.

Marvin Gaye playing quietly in the background.

Complaining about a show you haven't seen reminds me of the clickbait post where people leave a bad review for a restaurant they never ate at.

I think the uptick in negativity is it’s easier.Like it or not our species has a herd mentality and the last few years have been very dark for humanity, thus spreading bad vibes.Movies now are very different than previous decades because the psychology of society has changed.

Ya, anything they don't like is "woke".
It's just another word to channel their fears as the world moves past them, like "PC" in the 90's, or "hippies" in the 60's.

Wandavision was fun. Not great cinema, but fun. Falcon and the Winter Solder was a great show and Loki was the BEST MCU series on D+.

Then Hawkeye was entertaining. I never watched Moon Knight. Miss Marvel was ok, but not great.

But at least each of those stories had a point. She Hulk is just that. A woman who becomes a Hulk. There is nothing for her to do. It’s like they just stick MCU on the label and think we’ll automatically love it.

Now, Secret Invasion is something I’m really excited about. I can’t wait to see how much of Nick Fury, was actually Nick Fury in the last several movies.

When I like something, I like it, but when something isn’t even trying, I’ll call it out.

That doesn’t make me a complainer on every thread.

I just had a horrific thought in regards to Daredevil and his appearance in this show. What if his scene is a post credit scene for the season finale of this show? I mean, they know fans like the Daredevil TV series and Matt Murdock. What if, in order to get more people to watch the show, they revealed that Matt Murdock was going to be in the show using footage they shot for what would be the post-credits scene of the season finale as a means of trying to hook in fans so to try to bump their numbers up? They could very well trying to use a post-credit scene footage to try to do a bait and switch. It'd be like Jennifer catfishing that guy she hooked up with by not telling him, "Hey, I have a human form too, I'm not like this all the time," but with the audience instead. That means that the footage we saw would literally be a bait and switch in order to exploit the fanbase for views, knowing that fans want to see Daredevil and would tune in to every episode in hopes of doing so.

Wow! "woke" has been *repeatedly* explained to you and other defenders of it on numerous threads!

...and you have been *spoonfed* examples of it on this very thread! Examples which included youtube links to scenes from the actual show!

And then you click "report" trying to hide what you dont like.

Sheesh!

Here we go again

Just embrace it for what it is. Recycling a defeated argument because it happened a few pages ago wont change the result.

You're right, my definition above was the nicest way of describing what users calling something "woke" is used for around here. There have been many other examples given that dive into political ideologies which I specifically avoided because it's against the rules of these forums. Thanks for your input, have a good day.

I can assure you I'm no troll .. If I'm blocked then I think it proves my point ! What about free opinion and freedom of expression ?
Well, if you critique something; people expect you to have either seen, feel, heard, taste or smell the thing you critique.
A little like "I hate PB&J!!..but I've never tasted it"o_O:rolleyes:

From what I've read, Daredevil will be getting more exposure in the MCU outside of She-Hulk. He's supposed to appear in just 1 episode of She-Hulk but will play a larger role in Echo before eventually getting his own series afterward. So I don't think that it's a bait and switch so much as a tease and a means of slowly introducing the character into the MCU.

I’ll be honest, I certainly had no plans on watching She Hulk on a regular basis as I never took her seriously in the comics. I decided I was going to hate it without watching one episode. Then one day I decided I should at least watch the first episode just in case there might be something there for me. Now, what can I say? I’m a fan. it’s incredibly fun and when Jen breaks the 4th wall I usually laugh out loud. Look, nobody is trying to write Citizen Kane here. Just a fun, silly side of Marvel. Don’t read more into it than what it is.
