Disney buying Lucasfilm (new Star Wars movies on tap)

Wonder if this will affect Celebration 2 Europe next year. They better not try to cancel, or I will go Rancor on their behinds :-/

Great news!!! While I was not a massive fan of the prequels, I still think there is plenty left in the 'ol Star Wars tank...Especially if they get the right person to write and direct.

I'm glad to see George handing it off...

DISNEY AQUIRES THE RPF, THE LARGEST ONLINE REPLICA PROP COMMUNITY.

And they then charge royalty fees per item we sell.

I'm patched into the investor call right now, Star Wars only films for the forseeable future, no Indiana Jones.

This is spooky. A buddy and I were having a conversation about exactly this time yesterday and I made the bold statement that the SW franchise would die with Lucas. My thought was that he would have it in his will where nobody could ever make another SW movie or do anything to the franchise he created because that's the kind of control freak he has become over the years.

Now excuse me while I go wipe the egg off my face. :lol

As a monumental Star Wars fan, I retain hope. I think that the franchise needs less Clone Wars and more material in the foundation and culture of what Star Wars is all about. The Clone Wars was a great tool for introducing new fans and keeping the more traditional fans tied over. Now that there is a new change in direction, I'm hoping they appeal more to the core fans now with this move.

This is truly jaw dropping news to me. I'm excited that there will be a 7, 8 and 9 and the possible release of the unedited OT on Blueray but on the other hand I'm sure the Star Wars brand will now be even more inundated with anything that they can stamp the SW logo on. I sure hope they respect the fans that kept this franchise alive all these years and not go all legal on them.

As long as they release the OT as it was originally cut I really don't care what they do with the rest. I'll happily go see the films with my kids. The SE are the ONLY thing that put me off the franchise. Make as many new movies as you want, plaster the logo on everything, make loads of cartoons, just give me my OT back. :thumbsup
