Disney buying Lucasfilm (new Star Wars movies on tap)

I'm wondering why George sold the company so cheap. He must have really been sick of the movie business, then again i bet he's making a killing off his stocks.

I really wish they would do it as a reboot so to speak and go back in the day of the Old Republic. Show us new characters, new stories, and make it feel real. Not so much CGI and childishness. Just my wants I suppose.

I wonder if they would re-theme some of the Disney parks to be a Star Wars kind of world. It would be a good fit and would probably breath new life into old themes. Instead of Space Mountain it could be Death Star Attack.

I doubt Disney would do such a thing, and as both a Disney and Star Wars fan, I'd be very much opposed to that.

Some sort of themepark presence would be awesome. Though given that Shanghai Disneyland is next on the agenda, I wonder what the possibility of a non-US debut of any Star Wars attractions is......

Google Chrome + Adblock... it's a freakin miracle. Totally changes the internet.

+1 on adblock, i use it too with firefox...

anyway interesting that lucas would call hamill and fisher in last year to tell them about 7,8, and 9. they must be involved in some way. he wouldn't just call them to have lunch to tell them, about 7,8, and 9 and then say, but you two won't be in it...

and most are assuming it has perhaps...
the sale of lucasfilm, most certainly.
scripts story outlines ,prpreproduction work ready to shoot within months? highly doubtful

Then you lose w/e you were betting with.

Georgie already said this has been in the plans for 1.5 years.

According to this article on slashfilm.com:

20th Century Fox Still Owns Rights To First Six ‘Star Wars’ Films, Making Original Box Set Difficult | /Film

Fox owns the rights to Star Wars ("episode IV") forever, and the rights to the other 5 films until they revert back to Lucas Film after May 2020.

I find this hard to believe. Pretty sure LFL owns it all. Seem to recall Lucas going to them and buying back Star Wars at one point.

Perhaps they own any theatrical release options like 3D. But DVD release is whole different thing.
