Disney announces Star Tours II reopening date for Disneyland

Hmmm... I think the new ride will be Us exclusive only first... There is another Star Tours in Disneyland Paris and Im there in august...

I will be going tomorrow to the Orlando ride and Star Wars Weekend. I am ticked though, as I missed Lucas last night for the official opening. Oh well, I am still excited about the ride.

oh awesome, glad this is being re-opened soon. Missed it last year wasnt open the shop is always a thrill but the ride was brilliant sounds like they are making it a whole lot better

Just got back from Disney...the fastpasses for this ride go like hotcakes! They were totally gone by 10am on one day.

Alas, I only got to ride it once. It's pretty cool. And I say this as a general hater of 3D. The new motion simulators are great and the ride is very cool. Kudos to Disney and Lucas for this much needed upgrade.

Just rode this yesterday at Disneyland. It was good. It was very, very good. I'm a big fan of simulators and the 3D in this was well done (added a lot of depth), and the digital projection (giant plasma?) was much crisper than the previous projection (film?). I like that there will be different flights, and not just the same one over and over. In terms of total immersion, this one runs a close second to the Simpsons ride at Universal. (In terms of which one I would ride over and over, Star Tours wins hands-down.) The new gift shop has a giant (7/8 scale, maybe) X-Wing hanging from the ceiling.

Extra bonus thrill: My 4-year-old son was tagged as "the Rebel spy." (Since we're local and have annual passports, my plan is to get there at opening one day soon, ride it a couple of times, and leave.)

Glad to hear people are liking the update to Star Tours. Makes me feel better and more excited when I'm going in October to Disney World.

I would not say it was the "exact same," no. Obviously there are overlapping elements (space tourism, flight gone awry) but the presentation is different as well, aside from the 3d. The 50 or so different variations of the ride will keep things interesting.
