Dinosaur Fans! Check THIS Out!

On a hunch I touched up the parts with some Antique Gold rub n buff... trying to get that weird metalllic-oily look that the real fossils have.

Of course now it kind of looks ilke a bronze statue... which is not so bad. :rolleyes

Spanish Copper maybe? It gives an interesting dark metallic brown...

Saw it today, and must admit, was not overly taken.

Partly because I have no real place to put it. If space weren't an issue, I'd have likely got it. And the head is about 2/3 the size og the one I posted earlier.

Woo hoo! OK I finally fit this thing together... what a beast! :D

It's the size of a medium household dog. But don't let your dog gnaw the bones. :lol

I'm still not really happy with my rub n buff experiment... it needs something else, plus some clearcoat. I'll have to deal with that later when it's warm enough to spray.

In the meantime... wow, what a fun kit. The parts slide together in under 30 minutes... the hardest part is IDing all the little numbers and laying the parts out for assembly. Each subsection is in its own bag anyway so it's a snap.

The parts do not snap positively in place, the fit is all sort of loose. The shoulders and arms lay across the rib cage, which seems precarious. Also despite the fact that gravity kind of holds it together, I'm
still afraid of bumping it, lest I be attacked by a huge blizzard of pointy plastic pieces. :lol

Anyway bottom line: fun fun fun, and makes a great display. Could definitely use a repaint and some reinforcement during construction.

while bee bopping around the web I found these new offerings from Masterpiece Models

I've never dealt with them, but they look pretty damn snazzy... especially the full scale velociraptor skull and the juvenile allosaurus skull.

There's also a really impressive triceratops skull, but I have the Dinostoreus version. Still at 17" it's tempting.

So for the folks that like to build there own, check it out:

Howdy,

I just got a weekly ad email from ToysRUs, and this kit will be on sale (in the US) tomorrow and Saturday for $29.99, $10 off. :thumbsup

Thought this might be good for those sitting on the fence...

Alright, I'll bite the bullet and start my x-mas shopping in a few hours :lol and get a couple of them for the kids.

Heh, When I saw that sale, I broke down and got a couple more at that price anyway! I'm giving one to my man Gene, who loves this kind of stuff, but is far too "sensible" to ever break down and buy it on his own, and I'm going to keep the other one around for spare parts. :D
