Yeah not sure if it's possible. Again those plugs are hard plastic and have decals on some of them as well. (The NCC 1701) So you would be compromising them as well. Best to just leave it alone...

If man were meant to fly … ;)

I used the old school hot glue stick method to pull the little front grille piece off the HT Delorean to do some electrical mods. I might try that on one of the starboard side plugs when I eventually give in to the foolish need to automate everything. That side is not fit to display anyway (for me, it’s the Mirror Mirror no-filming side). Now, if Tomy would offer a plug replacement kit for sale after the warranty expires …

Even if Tomy offered a plug replacement kit the colors would not match with the various shadings going on !

Good point. I would need fully painted plugs. But if they just painted them in place then no joy.

At some point, one of us will risk it. This is the RPF after all.

Glen Swanson has probably done more research and written more information on the history of Star Trek models than anyone. He has covered the entire history of the AMT kits, variations, and more. He’s absolutely obsessed with the models and a really wonderful guy.

I think the PR played into the poor response to the crowdfunding, but it was just one part. The other part and one I think that’s more unfortunate is that the TOS items just aren’t appealing as the old dog Trek fans (waving hand) are getting fewer and far between. It’s generations from today and the new series and you’ve got the much more updated and prevalent movie ships and new series. So the Refit and D are more likely to grab backers as possibly is the new SNW E.

In a way I can’t help wonder if Tomy saw the TOS E as a test bed for what they can or can’t do before tackling much more involved projects with intricate hulls and stealing, and way more lighting.

I posted the original pic with Kirk & Spock and I didn't notice it until it was reposted with the defects pointed out! Even then I had to look really hard to see it.

"Tomy is working on other models that will be part of their new Star Trek Prestige Select line. They have learned from their mistakes and despite what you may have heard, they do listen to their customers."

So I'm hoping praying he's right. And yeah I to would love to see any of those vehicles you mentioned! : )

I am hoping he's right. I also hope that when they do they do the Refit, they make it a plug-in!

The Klingon D7 is of no interest to me. For me, it pales in comparison to the original Enterprise. When compared to the Refit.....forget about it! It's the Refit for me!
