Nope The viper and Cylon raider were custom built. The blackbird did however very few made it into collectors hands as there were delam issue with the acrylic cases. So a background , Diorama of the flight deck was offered instead. My cover was ok and it has the blackbird logo Inscribed on the top of the cover. You either had the cover or the background of the flight deck. GC

Let us know what customer service says. I too would prefer a non-weathered version (or a very lightly weathered if they must). The weathered version may be true to the model, but it's not true to my memories of the ship on television.
My biggest concern here is this is another pre-order paid in full. In my life time I have watched Icons, Master Replicas, Unobtinanium, Master Replicas Group, chronicle Collectables, Anovos all fold. In the last three weeks Eaglemoss may be folding dooming my Hero collector Enterprise D part work build. I hope Tomy actually survives to production however hang on to those emails and your credit card receipts folks ! Dont get me started on EFX which amazes me to this day is still around with its Shenanigans. GC

I don’t think we have to worry about that. TOMY has been around since 1924 and merged with Takara Toys in 2006 making them a huge international company. That’s almost 100 years right there. Plus it’s a Japanese company which is usually quite stable.
But of course nothing is guaranteed and a lot can happen in a year. But my bet is on TOMY for it has been around for so long. For me a project backed by TOMY gave me the added insurance I needed to plop down the 600 bucks.
Of course nothing is guaranteed but I I like our chances in this deal.

Also that list is just plain sad…really sad and unfortunate.
Eaglemoss has been around about 50 years based out of Great Britain. Right now it is in administration, the first stop before bankruptcy . I hope they (Tomy) make it with the quality expected however a lot can happen in a year. Timelines extended etc.
Wow - just checked the TOMY site. Up to and including this morning, it read 2274 backers and about $1.5 mil collected. Sometime over the last few hours, it jumped back up to 2526 backers and almost 1.8 mil collected (interestingly, on their original pledge page, the number of backers is only listed as 2515, while the amount collected is the same as the other page).

I talked to customer service and they said unfortunately there will only be one paint option, and it wouldn’t be possible to omit the weathering.

Maybe we can convince them to go lighter on the weathering than they did on the promotional model.

They said the weathering appears much stronger in the photos than it does in person. I wouldn’t base too much on the colors based on internet images or videos that haven’t been correctly color adjusted.
I’ve had clients swear we had used the wrong colors in video projects, but it was alway the calibration of their monitors.

My issue wasn't primarily with the "colors" of the weathering, but the splotchiness and, frankly, the careless way it looked to be applied in many places. In seeking lighter weathering, I was simply hoping that if they used a less heavy hand, the paint might not look as badly applied.
Ex: Smithsonian model - side near deflector
vs TOMY around the same area:
The weathering on the TOMY around the Delta and striping - and on the streaming 'grime' flow coming from near the top of the deflector area and onto the main body - are really blotchy looking and ugly compared to the subtlety and relative smoothness of the original model's weathering.

Weathering really is an art. It can be done well and it can be done poorly. Just like prop making and we have some real artists in this forum group. GC

I understand people's concern but please remember these were prototypes and probably done in haste to meet their production schedule. Colors weren't correct as was the tech which they were still working on.
I too prefer no weathering, but I'll take it if its done right and Chris Husiman who heads the project seems really intent on getting this right. Plus they are consulting with Gary Kerr who worked on the Smithsonian restoration, so at least the project has very capable people involved.
Lets not get all to worked up over the preliminary examples that were shown. Give them time and when they start showing us progress pics and videos then we can start getting more critical.
My main concern is what comes out of the factory, where is the production facility for this?
I'm sure we all know the answer. Which is sad really
