Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

oh that is an awesome idea..now we need a 3d printed space dock that also serves as a stand..maybe a clear rod extending from the back to support the ship at key points, as well as the shuttles and work crews
Now I think you're onto something there!

The screw covers are there in the picture, but you wouldn't notice them if you weren't looking for them. I thought about selling on eBay but thought it would be too much hassle.
I used to make a living selling on Ebay so selling my extra Enterprise would be a piece of cake. I would come up with good and accurate pics of it that look as nice as possible and create an accurate description of exactly what they are buying. I think it would do well.:)

Well there's 144 in this pack. 2 more packs and I'd have the entire crew of the Enterprise!
Haha. I'm guessing you may be able to stuff 4 or 5 in the shuttle bay, a few fixing all the seams and plugs on the ship and than a few dozen scaling the stand ...

Watching the videos, it looks to me like it's unstable, without the front stand, because the stand is way too light and it has to simple pegs holding the model on. There is also not enough "stand" in front of the model. I don't think the neck will have trouble supporting the saucer once it is secured better to the neck and a better, heavy base with a secure post. A heavy duty security camera post secured to the model will work as well. It will display securely and stable no problem. I hope. I will know for sure as soon as I get mine unless someone beats me to it. As it's metal I don't think there will be saucer or nacelle droop problem.

Curious, do you have an example of what you mean by that? I'm trying to imagine and I can't picture it. Really curious cause I am think of getting this to support the saucer section instead of using the supplied saucer section stand:

Putting a post on each side of the saucer. Not the most elegant but I think better than that second stand. Not sure if this would work but I can easily return since it's amazon.

They come with a hex bolt as well so you don't have to have the tightening handle on the side. Gives the post a nice look.

I was thinking of using the existing plug holes under the saucer section. With the neck at noon, run clear acrylic rods into the plug holes at 4 and 8. That gives three points of support for the saucer.

I couldn’t have been more clear. View attachment 1745010
I actually contacted TOMY when these instructions came out and Dan himself *explicitly* told me that the saucer support would NOT be required for normal display of the entire Enterprise. So it *was* a surprise to learn, this close to the delivery date, that the exact *opposite* was true. And it was worse than a surprise NOT to learn this fact from TOMY itself, but from third parties instead.

This was the killer for me. From its very first appearance during the crowdfunding, I *hated* the saucer stand (and so did TOMY, going by the fact that virtually all their photos and displays don't use it).

Yes. Even the author of the video has confirmed this fact. He only removes the saucer stand for making the vids themselves. As he comments in one of the videos, he thinks the one stand alone is just too unstable for display purposes.

Wow thanks for the heads up!!! That is great news!!! though I probably will either use the saucer stand or buy some supports just in case. But that is really nice to know that you don't need the extra stand for additional support! Awesome!

Great investigative work Bispro!!!!

True but he told me that is how he is going to display it...without the saucer stand...it's a little unstable, but he thinks it will be fine as a stand alone set up.

I'm afraid you have misunderstood me. I was told by Dan back when the instructions were released that the saucer stand was not required. But, when all of this blew up a couple weeks ago, I contacted him again, and he declared that the saucer stand is a necessity, not an option, now. That is why I cancelled my orders.
