Whoops! I forgot to read the instructions. Just going off what I had heard in videos. My bad. Still seems like a pretty good value for $600.

That's how I felt about it. I was looking forward to adding this to my collection, and I intended to display it saucer attached without the stand. VERY disappointed that I had to cancel. When I realized I'd be displaying a model with 8 lb.s dangling out there because the TOMY geniuses think that a single hex screw would be sufficient, I could see disaster in the making. I wanted to display it, without having to worry about it.Plugs didn't bother me. The stand and need for saucer support was my big issue. And yeah, someone will probably come up with a fix for that but it bugged me to buy it like that since that was not mentioned until this point in the entire process. Just kind of turned me off with the way we all found out.
Based on the videos I just posted the owner said he probably won't display with the saucer stand. He thinks it should be fine. Yes it does wobble from left to right a little but overall he says its pretty stable. That's how I felt about it. Ya know I think I am glad I kept my order. I think this piece even with its shortcomings is still going to be a nice replica. Especially with the exorbitant prices on the secondary market for the MR Enterprise. Plus with the age of the MR Enterprise, problems are beginning to show based on what I read on other threads...drooping saucer, oil splotches, bad electronics etc etc. So investing serious monies in a 10+ year old model doesn't make sense anymore.
Plus for 600 for the TOMY is a very good deal.
Another detail of the connection point. You can see the threaded insert in the die cast dorsal. There are two square posts on the dorsal that fit into two recesses in the dorsal section attached to the saucer, then the one screw. View attachment 1744934View attachment 1744935
Wow thats so cool! I'm glad to hear! I would love to have one but the pics with damage I've seen now don't make it worth investing for me. The model is to old and people demanding 3 grand and up doesn't make it worth to take a chance. I wish I had bought it then but being in school at the time spending that type of monies was out the question.Just speaking for myself, my MR Enterprise is still working as it did when I pulled it out of the box, I believe around 2006. No blotches, and no drooping either. Maybe I got lucky.

So the TOMY will have to do for me.
Oil blotches in the bussards, plus drooping saucer...not much but starting to be noticeable. Plus people having to replace bad connectors. Also light failures too. And someone just sold a MR Enterprise where the bussard motors stopped spinning. He tried fixing but but he didn't have the skill to do so. The model is 10 + years old **** happens. So for me paying 3 grand and up in the secondary market isn't worth it. I Love the MR Enterprise but its a roll of the dice at those prices now after so many years. What pictures of the MR are you talking about?? A saw a bad UNOBTAINIUM on eBay yesterday with dropping nacelles and splotches but never an MR.
Well, there are 2 bids out on Ebay that's asking $1074.00...I just checked a bit ago. But I don't know what the bids are....They'd be crazy to sell for less at least initially. I would up the price to $899 and sell internationally. I suspect they'll fly off the shelf. Those guys aren't as anal as us Yanks.
My MR Enterprise is still perfect. MUCH is how you treat these things - especially with regards to temperature, humidity and also sunlight. Mine is kept in a very temperature stable basement - no sunlight and in a custom case as well. Yes, anything can go bad but I've been a collector a long time and know a lot is how you care for the items in your collection.Oil blotches in the bussards, plus drooping saucer...not much but starting to be noticeable. The Unobtanium is a disaster all to itself. Unless you have great modeling skills that replica is worthless.
That's awesome! And for sure! All those factors are involved in taking care of a prized replica! My MR Enterprise is still perfect. Same story with the MF from the same company: lights not working well after a few years. Mine is fine for nowWow thats so cool! I'm glad to hear!
