Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Well, given paneling is so prevalent on everything after TOS, they could make plugs that are panel shaped.
Yep, good idea.
Some avoidable mistakes were made with this release but based on what I'm seeing of the final product, I'd still be on board for an Enterprise D or Refit at this relative price point.

I don't know. I think the lights are actually closer to what they should be then the MR. The MR are kinda all blue tinted and they also used LEDS. Unfortunately everyone is gonna use LEDS now. There is no going back. Even the full scale in the Smithsonian has LEDS. (Yeah I know they mimicked the original tone of the old incandescent)

Just the way it is now and most people are not gonna mind the brightness...
The lights themselves are not an issue. LEDS Can now be obtained that will mimic the Lighting of the 1960's Filming miniature. That's not the issue...they are way too BRIGHT. Too bright for this scale...the crew would need welders goggles to walk the halls! But again, scale lighting is something that has to be learned and as I already mentioned, most wants lights that can be seen from the neighboring state.

However, I think this replica should be accepted for what it is...and enjoyed for what it is for those who purchased it. If you want a replica of the filming miniature, start with the 1:350 Polar Lights kit, Research the colors(sorry it ain't light ghost grey or any available rattle can color, you will have to mix it and Air Brush it), Go the extra mile with the lights and not follow some YOU TUBE "expert"pushing some after market light kit (Every one of them is wrong, the closest option is the Polar Lights light kit...AND you need the inner fan blade dome to spin not flash to induce an epileptic seizure ), Everything is out there and not a secret, you just need to take the time to do your own Research.

Yeah I know they are too bright, They are leds so that is a given. Everyone uses them now. I also know they can be toned down. (The Smithsonian did a good job on the full scale with leds) Unfortunately companies who make pre-built models are not gonna tone them down. It was the same with the MR. Too bright but also TOO BLUE.

As for the Bussards. Yeah not 100% accurate but I haven't seen a 1/350 that is accurate (too my eyes anyhow) to the filming model yet. It's probably way too costly.

I don't know what a bussard is but...

Yeah I saw that one before. Very very close. Though the green is not as visible..but very close.(edit: haha. I see that that is yours)

I did not expect the Tomy to be anywhere near that good. Especially after seeing all the update videos over the last year. The Tomy caps need even more frosting it would appear. As for the rotating there are three settings. So we will have to see wit the naked eye on how close it is....

Arent the nacelle caps also called the Bussard Collectors??? Idk for sure....lol

Last week I had a bussard in my back yard eating a dead skunk.

That's the kind of stand we needed -- unobtrusive and focuses attention on the beauty of the ship.

It would be nice but the saucer would still need to be supported with a rod as well. The thing is over 20lbs. Plus a hole would need to be drilled OR some type of brace (for a rod) which would need screwed and attached to the bottom of the ship.

Agree on the weight, especially with the saucer weighing in at 8 pounds !

I will never display the saucer separately from the secondary hull so I'd like to eliminate the saucer support and base completely.

Does anyone know if the saucer-to-secondary hull joint/connection can be strengthened or reinforced with another screw without using epoxy glue?
I asked Dan himself and he stated that the ship cannot be displayed except for short periods without both stands. That is the reason I cancelled both my orders. If not for that horrendous stand (not just the arm, but the baby bottle plug as well), I would have kept my order.

EDIT: After looking at the single stand video by Trevor, I am glad I cancelled. The engineering stand is just ridiculous. The wobble to the sides and the tilt to the front is scary and unforgivable.

I'm gonna guess that a rod only for the saucer would be enough to keep the saucer stable....the secondary hull no. But I think that could be stabilized as well..

Yeh I could tell from the video that the ship was going to be wobbly with only one stand. I agree displaying the ship with both stands looks completely ridiculous...but I'm optimistic and hoping someone comes up with an after-market stand that solves that problem.

I think everyone assumed (and I suspect the creators intended) that there was matter/antimatter mixing going on in the nacelle caps. Then for TNG they became hydrogen scoops. I think Rick Sternbach came up with that. I respect him greatly, but that one....
