Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

So can we get rid of the saucer support if the two sections are bolted together? I still say they should have done away with separation feature.
It looks like it comes with two separate stands. One is just for the saucer so yes. I agree that the saucer separation feature doesn't really excite me much. Maybe I'll change my mind when I have it in hand for display?

It looks like it will still require the saucer support rod when the 2 base sections are combined and the saucer bolted on.

I do too. I once built the Fine Molds 1/144 Millenium Falcon and lighted it. I had it running on batteries that were external. I like how they have the batteries hidden in the model here and it looks like easy access.:)

As a kid I remember the first few AMT kits of the Enterprise with lights, batteries were in the same place and you turned it on by turning the deflector dish area. So this makes a bit of connection with the past. The first Falcon model had lights too.

I would've rather they left it out too but I bet they kept it for shipping feasibility more than anything.

OMG that's some insightful thinking right there. Find out they'd save X with a certain shaped box, and turn "some assembly required" into a feature.

I prefer a plug over batteries, but since this goes the battery route I'll probably end up using rechargables. From what I understand, rechargables don't leak as nearly often as alkaline types.

Yikes no offense but I'm hoping the next big project will be the REFIT!

For me, doing either the refit or the Enterprise D next would make me happy. (Or the SNW Enterprise, I'd be thrilled for that too.) My first choice is the D (if youve already done a Kirk ship, do a Picard next!) but I couldn't complain if the choice was either of those.
There are plenty of other lovely ships they could make down the line, but I think the TMP Refit and the E-D have reasonably earned priority in the history of the series.
Plus, with the refit getting some recent attention in STPicard, along with the TNG era getting a lot of current focus, and more SNW seasons on the way, it would make sense to announce one of these three while hype remains high. The iron is currently hot, will anyone strike?

On the topic of "little details that are for some weird reason a big deal to me," it's always been cool to me that when the Enterprise D's nacelles are shut down, the blue glow areas appear to be copper and the red appears plum. If (WHEN!) Tomy makes the D, I'd like them to pull that off.

If I'm remembering correctly, the Chronicle Collectibles replica had it before they went under.

LOL speculating on future ships and what they offer is fun...REFIT PLEASE PLEASE...but man everyone here might change their minds when they release the TOS and it SUCKS! A lousy build would be disappointing and if that happens count me out on future builds!!! LOL But I KNOW THAT WON'T HAPPEN! LOL TOMY won't let us fans down!...l hope anyways. :)

well i see no reason to be negative ahead of time, there will be plenty time for that if that happens haha.
it's a long wait until even the first release so it's fun to speculate on it and future releases.

that chronicle prototype looked amazing. I got to see it in person at a convention and was quite enamored. the base, the copper nacelles, the subtlety of the paint application. I hope TOMY can give us something in this ballpark in the future.
my only complaint was that the bussard collectors were just clear white when powered off. not great when the model will spend most of its life viewed that way without power, I need some color.

Or the post-generations update, also good:

LOL yeah for sure there will be plenty of negativity when the release happens! You can count on that from us collectors! LOL

Man that Chronicles Enterprise is sweet! I guess you never got one? I never did...forget what they were going for at the time. To bad they went out of business. Did they ever produce of any of the D's? Did anyone get them I wonder.

They never went for anything, because they never made it to release! The company folded while it was still in preorder phase. Never reached retail.

Man that sucks. I looked them up and I think the final price was 2 grand. Pretty pricey but it was a sweet piece. What coulda been.

Yep they never released it which drove me to the parts work edition which also folded however IXO models is picking that up from the Eaglemoss bankruptcy. However I digress. Loved the LCARS base on that Chronicle version as well.

What I wrote on their FB page (on a post from last December, because that's the most recent one they have on there about this product):

Encouraging progress!
I know you said the saucer panel lines will be lightened, which is good, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not do ANY of that dark airbrushed weathering (or preshading) along those panel lines as seen in this sample. That should not be present even the slightest bit.
Thanks again for keeping us updated!
