Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Is it a perfect replica? nope! It's an Eaglemoss XXXL refit with a decent paintjob, correct proportions and windows-navigation-deflector-engine lighting. I am so in.

IMHO this is way better than a XXXXXXL EAGLEMOSS REPLICA! No offense to anyone but I never liked those diecast fleet ship models. The details and paint were ok, plus the stands were horrible! They look like football goalposts! lol

If you saw the ridiculous amount of work I have put into the seems as well as the mountain of 3D printed and photo etch and other additions I have into my refit build you would understand my obsession. This is going to be very nice no doubt but it just isn’t for me. It’s in the modeling thread though so I will always be looking at it from that angle. And it’s been on the first page! It tasks me! It tasks me and I shall comment! I’ll comment on the seems, the windows, the deflector dish and the price before I shut up! (For those feeling a dis on the model, nope read it as Khan, these just jokes about a toy)

lol! I get ya! I can understand the sweat and heartache you must have put into your REFIT! As builder myself it is incredibly time consuming which is why I’ve let building fall to the wayside. That’s why TOMY making these ships is a dream come true for me as devoting time to making these ships is currently unfeasible. Plus the DIECAST is just so cool!

You own a Lamborghini, and I envy you.

This is a really nice fully loaded F-350, 4x4, Crew cab, long bed truck. (My personal dream truck)

Like the Lamborghini vs the Ford F350 there is no contest. The Lamborghini would smoke the truck, however if I drop the F-350 on the Lamborghini it would crush it.     :p :p :p :p :p (y) (y) (y) (y)

Honestly I expect the seams to be more pronounced on the final model, not less, because there isn't a whole lot you can do about them when working with die cast metal — that's why we got the fairly pronounced seams last time. You can try and hide them by putting them in hidden places, but that depends on the model you're making. You can't fill and sand them.

I'm also curious how they're going to achieve the phaser effect, presumably there will be a hole in the saucer with a plastic phaser mounted in it. Either way, it's going to have to be a far more sophisticated product than the last one was, which I really hope they can deliver on.

They said they learned a lot from the mistakes with the TOS E so we will see how that plays out with the REFIT. I trust them to make the REFIT into a fine piece. So far, even with this prototype I’m liking what seen so far. Oct 2025 can’t come fast enough!

And it has the ludicrous seams of an American made vehicle! ;) :D <ducks out of the room>
