Thanks! I personally like the Messermeister roll better too, I do actually have one just like it as well. When I saw the actual leather knife roll that was actually used on the show though, I had to have it. Something about the uniqueness.
I'm at work right now so I can't find it but it was either earlier in this thread or in http://www.therpf.com/f24/dexter-costume-72909/ that I found the info on the bag. The one you picked according to that is the correct one.

Am new here too, just started about a week ago but ya a good run on that classic dexter knife roll would be a hell of a thing to take on.

Wow man... This looks just awesome... Damn. Im fact I really wish I had that!
For some quick details, you can tell its hand made due to its little imperfections and unevenness all around, which I can't get enough of, and makes it that much more special. It seems like a quality wide grain leather with lots of ageing applied to it to make it look like its been used and abused. There is even a blood stain on the inside of the top flap, which is very uncharacteristic of Dexter leaving some evidence. The leather strap used to tie has been curled up to look like its been around as well.

It's the middle of the night out here so I can't check but I'm 100% sure it was filled with Mundial knives as in the new style roll.
I have saved many pictures of the roll from season 1 to keep with it and can verify you are correct about the Mundial knives. Believe it or not though, I do plan on using the roll and knives when entertaining. I have a background in cooking and do travel with my knives often. So I plan on filling it with all Global knives. I apologize in advance as I'm sure many here will cringe, its not 100% authentic. It is very similar and more useful for my situation though. Currently my roll and knife set is mixed of all different brand knives I've grown attached to over the years and I just couldn't do that to the Dexter roll.
Oh also, I'll likely be keeping a Michael C. Hall autographed knife in the kit as well that I received as a gift.
