Hey guys, just received a very informative email! Thought I'd share it here. Brian is a great guy and its pretty cool to hear he was here 'lurking'. :lol
"Just thought I’d drop you a quick email.
I finally had a chance to look up the RPF web site and take in your threads on the Dexter kill kits and other knives. You guys have done a huge amount of research on the pieces and they look great.
Just to let you guys know, none of the knives are media blasted or clear coated. Each and every knife and tool has the same finish. They are all brush grained… just like a DeLorean. If any of the finishes look different, it’s a trick of the lighting. Hope this helps to settle the differences on that.
I also noticed “Rbeato” comment at the end of the thread, on the pick not being new for season 7… I started on Dexter with Special Effects in season 3 and also started doing the knives towards the middle of that season. I never did and still haven’t seen any episodes before the end of Season 3. I was not aware of a pick before. The prop master gave me a photo of a pick this season, he saw on the internet and told me to make it… in black. The pick that is in Dexter’s bag now, is new and completely machined out of 7075 aluminum. Sorry if there’s any confusion.
Hope this helps. Merry Christmas !
Brian
