dexter watch

Fluid, enjoy the watch. Correct, you did did beat me twice in the same day. Well played, sir. Keep in mind that I did help you get it for $150. That was my offer initially to him and my "Buy it Now" that the seller created.

I've been at this game for a LONG time. I posted about this watch NOT being a Timex back in March 2010.

watch spotted on TV - Showtime's "Dexter"

My eyes would be better today if it weren't for browsing vintage watch brands on eBay until 2AM a lot of nights. You can say I've been one of the original "obsessive researchers".

Yes, you did make it possible for me to pick this up for $150. Which kinda makes me laugh because my opening bid (that was cancelled) was for more than that. I hope there are no hard feelings. And good luck in your search. If I happen to see anymore listing for it, I can post them up if you'd like?

No hard feelings here whatsoever. The events that transpired yesterday were pretty amusing to be honest. I think you got a nice deal- and since that happened I've already got a lead on another.

I've been involved in this search for several years now investing many hours in the brute force identification method and discussing the watch on forums. Delaying gratification by a few weeks or months isn't a big deal. I personally think that the "big news" of the watch identification isn't going to really affect our ability to find this watch. The average person posting this watch isn't going to suddenly understand its significance. They will continue to sell it like any other vintage watch. It's very likely the EXACT watch will appear with some patience and when the initial demand surge dies out. Chances are it will be lumped into an assorted watch lot.

Believe it or not- I'm already watching another one. This is a good sign that two separate watches have appeared on consecutive days.

just a shame fluid both of ours or should i say now yours is gold like mine was (damn it why couldnt they have been silver lol, ah well least we got one, but i got lucky with mine, got it off ebay buy it now $60 a few weeks ago, literally caught it a minute after the auction started, was in good shape, but sent it off to get all the gold replated rhodium, looks like silver but harder and more durable and wont rub off like silver will eventually, and also had them overhaul the whole watch as far as reservicing it, so when it arrives, ill need a band and it'll be like a brand new watch. if i come across one ill post it and first to pm me gets the info

I know the band and don't think finding one will be that hard. I'm just waiting for the watch to arrive so I can admire it and check the measurement of the band before I start trying to find one. If I'm having problems with it I'll let you (and the rest of the RPFer's) know to see if you guys have any luck. Thank you for the offer.

im having problems finding the band or one like it, DP sent to a place and they are out, plus i dont have the measurements in mm to find the right thickness of the band. im thinkin its 18mm, but can someone possibly check for us to those that have the watch? just measure between the inside where the band goes in mm. that'd be a huge help. i dont want it to be to small and not filling up that area, DP's is the exact right size. but the more and more ive been watching dexter as its almost constantly on my tv i have noticed the band to be very basic and plain, just regular silver kinda rounded links....

The band has been identified already as a "Speidel Twist-O-Flex". There are around 300 or so on e-bay. I'm unsure of the size as of yet. Just waiting for mine to show up and the size will be cake to figure out. I'm patient. I'm just blown away that I finally scored one of these bad boys. Can't wait to hear it go "Tick. Tick. Tick." :lol

Starkiller, Dexters real watch doesnt have gold tone markers on the face, or hands they are silver, Dark passenger has the exact watch which he has photos on the previous page of the right watch. but mine is currently been shipped off to all be replated, everything gold will be made silver as how the watch should be.

They look gold toned to me. I bought one that is, in my opinion, the most accurate I've seen since it even had the correct band already on it. I will try to post some pics up tomorrow of it. I gotta say I never get tired of looking at this watch.

if you look at DP's first watch that had a silver frame but gold markers made it look completely off, and the watch only comes in all silver or gold. but the face has that silver look but in some light looks goldish. my watch i had replated will be here monday and i will post up pics.
this is the exact watch, no one will disagree, all silver except when the light makes the face look goldish. can you post a pic of yours starkiller

my automatic timex, the first watch that was posted with the red marks on the face, does go tick tick, but its not self winding, so to those that have their watches in hand do they tick?

but can someone verify the band in the link i posted if its the right band in post 195?

Any mechanical watch "ticks". Unlike a quartz the ticks are faster. This is due to the escapement (the last gear in the train) gradually transforming the spring tension stored in the main spring into usable information on the dial. An automatic is just a mechanical watch that "winds itself" with a small rotor that moves as the wearer's arm swings.

So- absolutely- any spring driven watch will tick.

I don't have a good camera with me, but here's a picture I saved of it that the seller took. I will take some better pics of it when I get home tonight. The lighting is not the greatest in the pic either. This really doesn't do it justice at all. Ha. Luckily I negotiated a pretty good price on it compared to what the seller was asking.
