Dewey, Drone #01 from "Silent Running" in 2/3rd Size

In "Silent Running", Lowell is reprogramming the drone's memory cards on a few occasions. I compiled this little clip featuring all the scenes that show the memory cards, the programmer, or the storage unit.

And I built this little device which is a combination of the programmer and the Memory Card storage unit.

And here is my (almost) final Dewey. I still need to work on the arm and the electronics - but that may take some time. I was lucky that I was able to take some pictures of him in the snow.

And here, together with his colleagues who had their screen debuts 5 and 43 years later.

Looks great
I built a 5 inch dewie as an anniversary gift to my wife it's her fav scifi movie. It was made out of scraps of wood wire and PVC but she loves it..
The 1.1 version is still in the works.

Eight months (and two HAL 9000 replicas) later, I felt it was time to add Dewey's last missing piece: the arm.
Initially, it was little overwhelming to approach this rather complex beast. Here is a reference photo:

But then, I simply focused on what can be achieved using simple shapes cut from plywood, and this is what I came up with.

The fully assembled arm.

To recreate the movie scene with the playing cards, I glued these five together,

so my Dewey can hold those.

I saw this movie in the 70's. I was very young. I remember I was confused by it. I should definitely watch it again.
