Wassup guys...time to start on the control console and security camera set from the detention block scene in ANH... not gonna be quite as big as the screen one but big enough to stand behind and regard the rebel scum. Done a quick render of how I want the scene to look

And some mock ups for scale

Modelled a single 'lectern' which I will print and make Fibre glass and wood casts from. Then resin print all the main greeblies, add lights and detail etc. Finally make a base to bolt them all onto

Any ref pics other than the usual google search stuff would be much appreciated...especially the instrument panels/switch layout. Thanks

Ok so, as always, in SW there's no such thing as a straight forward build. Getting all the console shapes 3d printed was gonna take forever so the idea was to cast them in fibreglass from the one print...uh not so fast. Really difficult shape to make a mold from, so split into 3 parts but still impossible to get a clean release and a usable cast without destroying the mold jacket.
In the end I resorted to making them in wood by kerfing the skins and routing the slotted panels

Now onto the fun part...installing the instrument panels, lights and greeblies

Cheers guys...see u on the next one

HOLY SMOKES MAN! Wha..How .. thunk. That looks spot on! what did you do the console control faces with, the , lights knobs, etc ? That is so clean, makes me want to lock up some rebel scum. Fan-freakin-tastic work. (y)

That's very impressive! How did you get the wood to curve and to ensure it was consistent from left to right?

Cheers dude...the instrument panels have an uplight for the main display and tube light for the front slots. The black panels are 3mm HIPS with white pinstripe. All the rest is led fittings, bits and bobs and printed greeblies etc.

Thanks...We kerfed the 9mm MDF to bend the front and back skins and made a jig to square the frame before cladding

So the final thing to finish off this prop was the security cameras which are now done. I'll post another pic when they're installed with the console.

The cases were cast from an original slide viewer, the lights modelled and resin printed with aluminium rods to finish

Great job on this and thanks for posting the link to the 3d files too! Haven't 3d printed too much, but curious if these 1/6 scale would print at full size?

“We’ve had a slight... weapons malfunction, but we’re all fine here now. How are you?”

Awesome. Very jealous of your tool kit to construct such things.

You make this; I make a belt.
