Destiny: Hunter's Knife

I'm a knife guy, have a pretty decent collection of different kinds of knives from all over, so when I first saw the Hunter's Knife from Destiny, I knew it was time to get off my butt and try my hand at making something from a game! The plan is a to-scale master sculpt, then mold and resin cast it.

Here's my progress so far. . .

I took the Hi-Res reference, that Bungie so kindly provided, into Photoshop and printed it out to scale. Then started the sculpt out of Sculpey, with a braided armature wire support.

Anyone have any suggestions on tools to use for sanding out that hunter logo? I think I can make just regular old sandpaper work, just curious as to whether or not there's a more convenient option.

You've probably finished it by now but i was going to say get a very fine grinding bit for a dremel and get it laid out and then use some micro files to finish it up. I want to make one of these but i need to come up with a way to bevel the openings as i don't have a router.

You shouldn't need a router to bevel the edges, just a block and some sandpaper (or a power sander if you have one). As for the logo I took 0.5mm styrene and cut it out with a scalple then backed it into more 0.5 and imbedded it into the correct position. Once glued into place fill the edges with car body filler (bondo for those over seas) and sand smooth.
I'm still new to the site so will do a wright up soon isn.
